So you were parked on the right hand side of an intersection and was pulling away and your left turn blinker wasn't working? If you were at an intersection, you must have been in the curbside lane. SUV was making a right turn, so I assume it was in the lane to your left; it made contact with you as it turned into your path.

Based on what I've read of your statement, I'd say you were at fault, if you were moving. If you had not made any forward progress, it was the other driver's fault.

Hey sorry everyone, i never got an email saying I had new posts here.

To answer the two most pressing questions:

(1) no, I was NOT moving yet. my buddy was still getting in the car.

(2) i didn't "chase" him down because: (a) honestly the event kinda shocked me and i just sat there not sure WHAT to do AND my buddy hopped out to even make sure there was any damage; (b) he didn't have any plates -- new car; (c) i was not about to go speeding through downtown SD; (d) we finally DID take off after him, but, not going quite fast enough to catch him, because just as we were about to catch up to him, he took a left at street and must have activated his cloaking device lol -- he just VANISHED. it was weird. yeah, i was pissed. :(

Anyway, my Dad took it better than I did, responding with simply "oh well, at least you guys weren't hurt." I guess 69 years (as of Sept 15, the day the accident happened, how much does that suck!!) on this planet teaches you to take certain things pretty well :)

Your friend was fortunate not to get injured. Could have been bad news if the impact had moved the vehicle while he was getting in.

Hit and run drivers should be permanently banned from ever driving a vehicle.

I was in Seattle when this guy in a X5 hit an unmarked police car. Neither realized until someone walking by told him (this is when we found out it was a cop car). He chased the guy down and there was considerable damage, which is surprising that neither felt it. Furthermore, the guy in the X was being an idiot and weaving through traffic at a 6 lane intersection with a red light when this happened, so he kind of deserved it.

so: the police dpt said there was no point in filing a report since, as i suspected, there is, in fact, nothing to report!! the estimate from the body shop is about $800. *sigh* oh well i turns out that the free paintjob our sonnen porsche dealership in norcal had given us was poorly done anyway -- i was told to look closely at the paint, and sure enough, it's got a really bad "orange peel" texture to it, whereas the factory paint job is smooooooooooooooth as a girl's ........ anyway so yeah there ya have it.
