Help please: 2003 X5 needs AUX and Sirius
I think I have my answer but just want to throw out my specifics so I have good information.
What I have: 2003 X5, 3.0i, Standard one CD biz CD unit and standard radio (head) unit. NOTE: The CD player will not play data cds (mp3). As I understand, 2003 cd's should have this functionality. Checked my door and my born date is dec 2002. First question, is the born date the issue ?? Since I have 2002 born date does that mean I have the older radio ?? What I want to do: I want to add sirius I want to add aux (via the BMW aux cable) Siriu questions: In is possible that my X5 is ready/cabled for Sirius given its year ?? In this thread, it suggests that one must upgrade to a 2003 in order to get sirius. Since mine is year 2003 am I good or does the b/o date mean that I need all of this too ? http://www.xoutpost.com/bsws-mobile-e...er-system.html AUX question: Forget sirius for a second. What do I need for BMW AUX connection only ? It's my understanding that I need the correct part which has the port the AUX connection. Do I need a specific radio or business CD or cabling?? Would I be correct in assuming that since I cannot play data CD's that I do not have the required part(s) that the AUX cable connects too (given that the connector was supposed to be eith b/0 2003 models)?? Thanks in advance |
Good news - you're a MY03 Business CD and 100% compatible for AUX and Sirius. Here's a shoping list of what is needed:
Sirius Satellite Radio - e53 X5 http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=274 Nothing else is needed - even 12 months of programming comes bundled with the Sirius package along with full instructions. And your AUX kit: Auxiliary Audio Input - e39/X3/X5 Business CD http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=297 Full instructions included as well. :) Only MY05 X5s had MP3 capabilities, but you would be much better off going with a DICE and iPod for MP3 playback. Going this route will give you steering wheel control, charging and text display on your Business CD display and is 100% compatible with Sirius. If you go the DICE route, you can eliminate the BMW AUX portion since this is already integrated within the DICE: DICE iPod Integration Kit for BMW http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=268 Let me know if you have any further questions, we're here to help. |
