Hi all (great site by the way)

I've read through many mails on this subect but......
I've bought a link lead from Ebay to keep my Tv playing whilst in motion (kiddie wish) and I cannot find the module which it is connected to? I've been told its in the boot can anybody shed light on this?

all the best
Boatman.

Boatman 10-29-2006 01:52 PM

Does your X5 have TV? ie if your in the X and your in park with the handbrake on can you watch TV on the screen??

Sudesh 10-29-2006 02:14 PM

I need to establish first if you have the TV? If you do then you need to located the TV module which is under the spare wheel. Disconnect the battery. Then unplug the blue factory harness plug from the TV tuner, and install it into the female plug on your NEW "TV IN MOTION CABLE" Then plug the other end of the "TV IN MOTION CABLE" back into the slot where you removed the blue male plug from the TV tuner. Then reconnect the battery. Done!

This is what the TV Module looks like. But its mounted different on the X.

Sudesh,

thanks for the info, I do have TV when the hand brake goes on (5 channels) in the middle of my spare wheel once removed is a black dome thing which is secured by four bolts and inside this is some sort of motor. and below it is the cars battery. the photos your showing is that of the area under the cd changer and satnav disc reader which lies to the left rear corner of the boot as you look at it?

The pic I attached is from a different BMW. Its just to show you what the TV module is like not where its installed on the X. You dont open the dome!! You have to unbolt the dome from floor (4 BOLTS) move the dome to one side to reveal the battery and the TV module etc

Sudesh 10-29-2006 03:05 PM

Here is an updated photo of the X5 spare wheel area.

Boatman 10-29-2006 03:15 PM

Is this photo of when the black dome thing is removed?

thanks Boatman.

Sudesh 10-29-2006 03:16 PM

Yeah! You dont have to take it out completely, Just unbolt it and push to one side as there are wires attached to it!!

Boatman 10-29-2006 03:18 PM

Tip top I'm into the garage to give it a bash I will report back!!

cheers Boatman.

Sudesh 10-29-2006 03:20 PM

No problem! Hope it works for you!!

Boatman 10-29-2006 03:40 PM

I'm up to speed so far so i need to now remove the black hood bit (tv tuner) and the lead which I plug my new bit to is under it?

Sudesh 10-29-2006 03:42 PM

Yeah if you have a black protective cover then remove it to get access to the plugs that go into the module. I take it your NEW TV LEAD has two plugs? One at each end?

Boatman 10-29-2006 04:24 PM

Tip top Sudesh, all in all working and all back together in 15 mins and thats at the hands of idiot (me!) thanks for your help now I want more channels and a tv for the roof! oh and dvd! Christmas is coming!!

cheers again

Sudesh 10-29-2006 04:35 PM

Great stuff!! Glad I could help! I have a dvd player in mine, plus planning on buying a free view box which will allow me to pick up some SKY tv channels! was going to put in either a roof mount tv or head rests but decided not too, as I'm really the only person in my X. I have yet to carry any passengers in the rear.

Boatman 10-29-2006 04:41 PM

ahhhh free view box more info please

Sudesh 10-29-2006 04:53 PM

You can buy an in car freeview box just like the one at home only alot smaller. I know I can wire it in to my system as I have a DVD player with aux inputs. Check ebay, I seen them on there.

In my e46 I can get freeview channels (sky one, dave, the hits and so on)

Is this not standard then?

Sorry, but I have only havd my e46 for a week now & still finding things out about it..

Thanks in advance..

ASH

If your X5 or E46 is 2005 or later, it will be fitted with a digital TV tuner, so you will get freeview.
Have you activated the TV on the move yet?
Where in Staffs are you. I am in Stone......

...ASH... 04-07-2008 01:09 PM

I can get it done cheap for you. Can also activate your voice control if you have bluetooth. It is a software update, so no need for expensive cables etc.
Interested ?

...ASH... 04-07-2008 05:50 PM

How much are we talking???

Thanks..

NeilX5 04-07-2008 06:03 PM

I was charged 25 for both to be done.....

...ASH... 04-07-2008 06:05 PM

What.. the TV in motion and the voice control?

Where did you get it done?

How long you lived in stone for? (I used to disco's with an old mate at the wayfairer)..

Thanks

Hi Kiwi,

I did not know that you can enable tv in motion with navcoder, is there a list of functions that nav coder can do?

...ASH... 04-08-2008 08:49 AM

I would be interested in a nav coder. Where can i get one? And what other functions can it do?

gwc 04-08-2008 09:03 AM

Download it here http://www.xoutpost.com/navigation-sy...available.html

Have a play around then email Jochen for the key after you pay;)

...ASH... 04-08-2008 01:23 PM

It looks a good bit of kit... the other question is.. where do I get the lead from?

THanks

Drop me an email to [email protected] and I will give you the details.
I live just up the road from that pub....
Navcoder can be had for 15Euros and then the interface is from a chap in Germany for about another 40euros, plus postage.
I think everyone is waiting for the software to incorporporate the key/memory settings, it will be a real bonus then...

I have looked (and me being a bit of a tech buff) I think that I might be able to build a cable myself..

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get the transistors and the diode?

And where is the best place to connect the ibus wire to?

THanks
