What X5 should I buy?

Ok, so I sold my 07 X5 4.8i, and I am getting a newer one, maybe 2012 or so. I keep going back and fourth on engines.... do I want a diesel, the 35i or the big 50i? At first I was all about the diesel to tow, but see the towing capacity on the 35i isn’t bad either. Then that 50i twin turbo just makes me excited.....

what’s everyone’s thoughts on the three engines?

I would say go for the diesel if you can delete all the cats and smog control. I have a 6.7 litre cummins in my 2014 RAM 3500 and it's got a lot of torque. But's all been deleted, tuned, and I have a 5" turbo back exhaust.

I think I talked myself out of the 50i, seems that it’s the headache of the trio. I do tow, and the salvage rebuild I have been driving (Chevy Traverse) is not up to the task.

So if you guys had a choice of 35d or 35i what would you go with?

3.5d is super refined, and much quieter than the 2013, but drove amazingly, the hydraulic steering really changes the car and its feel. ... The 35i seems to fit smaller cars better. It's lighter & likes to be Reved more. The 35d has more torque, good fuel economy & fits a bigger family vehicle.
