Yeah, I was joking with the CEO. Even if I am so doped up that I can't remember anything from the trip, I will surely enjoy some fine adult beverages, and get a nice tan!

Juan

Geeze...

Hang in there Juan, and enjoy your cruise as much as possible under the circumstances. Just be careful with the beer and Percocets.

Juan,

Sorry to hear of the re-flare up of the stones. Keep a full supply of Percosets and try as best you can to enjoy the trip.

Jeff

Juan,

I was unaware, I knew you had surgery but didn't know what for.

Sorry to hear about all stuff you are dealing with.

I am no doctor and I am sure you have looked into this, but in the event you haven't, hopefully, this post may give you another option.

I remember seeing a tv report not too long ago that there is a new way they deal with stones. If I remember correctly, they use some sort of ultra-sound or something to actually break up the stone so it does not need to be removed surgically or passed. I am sure you have explored all options, just thought I would mention in the event it hadn't been brought up.

I hope you enjoy the cruise.. And, in the event you want another precaution, a family member of mine used to be a pilot and travels often. He has a special type of travelers health insurance which will medivac a patient or put them on a private jet need be to get them to a good hospital of their choice (not like AMEX which puts you in any hospital as I understand it ! )
If you would like the name of this insurance, let me know and I will get it for you.

Have a great time on the cruise and pop a perc for me !!

Seth

Thanks a bunch for your advice, Seth. It is much appreciated.

Yes, I know about the treatment to which you refer. It's called lithotripsy: you sit in a tub filled with liquid, and they shoot radio waves through it. You feel nothing, but the stones are crushed. This treatment, however, is effective ONLY when the stones are still in the kidney. Once they leave the kidney, the treatment does not work. I had made an appointment with my urologist for the 15th of July (you know, the week after my cruise) to start the treatment for the remaining stones. But NOOOO.... they just could not wait, could they -- 'cause, once again, God has a sense of humor!

When we booked our cruise, we paid for the trip insurance... you know, "just in case." We were ready to use it today and postpone our trip, but obviously, decided to go ahead with the trip.

To everyone, thank you so very much for the kind words. It is incredibly flattering, and I cannot tell you how much it means to me. This is one of the many aspects that makes this place so wonderful. Again, thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart.

Juan
