Got Rear Ended...it will be interesting to see the report

Got rear ended today Nothing too major. Tow hitch ball took most of the brunt. New Bumper, lower tailgate, sensors, possibly exhaust is out....

Got to wait a couple days to go back to the pct. to get my report....
Love the $10 *report* fee I have to pay to get it.

It will be intersting is the person who rear ended up is written up PROPER or will something else be written. Older gentleman, who flashed his PBA card, heard him tell the officer on-site that his son in law is a LT at this Precint, etc, etc....

A rear end accident should be pretty open and shut. Just have your insurance handle it and move on

Yup, it doesn't matter even if he is FBI. He rear ended you. He is going to get shafted.

If its his fault having a SIL in the precinct won't stop an accident report. If you're talking about him getting additional tickets for say careless driving or something, then sure he might get out of additional citations.

But an accident report showing him at fault is a definite if he rear ended you. That's all you need to get it fixed through his insurance.

Even beyond that the accident report isn't the "end all be all" for the accident. It's a tool but certainly not the final word. My insurance company disagreed with a police report that assigned some fault to me in an accident a few years ago. They deemed me 100% not at fault

anything can be fought with lawyers/insurance companies but I was just trying to note that bc he started name dropping about his PBA family members doesn't mean hes getting out of the details of the accident and a report won't ever materialize or something.

OP good luck and let us know how it goes

I hope you used your phone or camera and took pictures. Pictures are still worth a 1000 words. Videos are even better.

My X5 was, back in Nov. The tow hitch took most of the impact as well. Still scratched up the rear bumper and broke 2 PDC sensors, also pushed the Dinan exhaust downward. The front was push into the tow hitch of a Trailblazer in-front. Total damage came to about $3400 to replace both bumpers and the PDC sensors. They will try to align the exhaust. If that doesn't work to my liking, I'll demand a new set.
Good luck!

Hey TMV -

I rememer your thread. Mine got no impact on the front.
My RR exhaust was *touched* but I don't believe it was pushed in.

My bodyshop is amazing...they got the adjuster squeezed out about $7200 payout.

All is good.
