I am pretty sure I know what I am doing, yet many times you have tried to correct me. The condescending posts are certainly not limited to the political section of the forum. I just stopped paying attention in most circumstances. There are one or two "know-it-all(s)" on literally every forum.

The only reason I ever became a part of the political forum was because, it spilled over into the E53 forum. Otherwise, I would have never engaged in any of this nonsense. Bickering back and forth, and firing off insults at one another, etc. This is not in my best interest.

I throw out an olive branch and you throw back criticism. How about just responding to the question I asked: Do you want to be friends, enemies, agree to disagree or continue on?

Don't be so condescending.

I was thinking exactly that sentiment when you posted. My mind was like: Nice, an olive branch from BC. Way to go. But then I don’t see a reciprocating reply.

Makes it hard to believe when he says he’s not angry.

I don't view disagreeing with posts as gaslighting. Can you give me an example of what you view as gaslighting so I know and can be sure I don't do it anymore? I don't expect anyone's political beliefs to change. It's amazing that you can remember something that didn't set well with you 10 years ago. I can't remember what anyone has said that didn't sit well with me a couple of days ago. One of the benefits or failings of age, depending how you view it. FYI, I haven't been on the forum for 10 years but I get your point.

Well it’s good to know you’re back up and healthy.

Instigation is your specialty. You’re pretty much the one who got us to this place we’re at now, since 2020.

What happened to being a “silent man”? Mr. cancellator.. Seems to me, you’re back to your old ways.

LoL, ard is the only one who slightly ruffled me with his, “it wasn’t all that bad” comment. But believe me when I say, that was definitely his intention.

You thinking I am angry, is just your false sense of judgement at work.

You go beyond a simple disagreement. You have a need to prove a point!

Your requested example is simple. You pop off with condescending remarks. I receive them as insults. I then fire back with a condescending joke. You then take offense, formulating a response that blames the entirety of it on me. Then, you further cast insult by saying, “I am an angry person”. “Why do you gotta make insults Happy”? Seriously..!? Geez, I wonder… Gaslighting.

I don’t really have political beliefs, so not a problem for me.

You don’t want to offend me anymore, then start with, “Hey Happy, how’s the E53”? Or, “Have you done anything new to the E53 recently”? You know small talk. Not always trying to correct someone or prove some point.

I can remember things as far back as 40 years ago. I thank God I have a healthy, educated brain. And it’s not about remembering something that didn’t set well with me on a single occasion, it’s about how I’ve been treated over a lengthy time period. You haven’t been very friendly to me. Xoutpost is about making friendships through a common interest, the X series BMW’s.

All the negative back and forth here is a macrocosm of what's wrong with this country. No body willing to back down from their stance, and people reading way too much into what other people says about each other.

It's a politics sub-forum for ideas and opinions. Agree to them or not, at the end of the day that should be the only thing we talk about.

Try to discuss the merits only people.

Some more observation:

As a long time tennis player I know all too well the urge to compete and win. So I can understand the need of posters here to want to get their points across and try and win an argument.

But while I haven't been here for a while, reading the last couple of posts here I see BC reaching out and making an effort to de-escalate. It's clearly an olive branch offered that got turned down.

My subsequent post was simply a reminder to everyone that hey, let's bring it down a notch. Keep it light and casual. Agree to disagree. That kind of thing.

If i have made it sound like i'm only taking one poster's side, that is not my intention. I just saw an opportunity of reconciliation missed and wanted to bring people's attention back to that opportunity.

But yeah, take the olive branch or not. This is supposed to be easy after dinner conversation. No need to escalate.

It's not personal. Which is why i'm refraining from addressing any individual by name. The offering of peace is something that should always be applauded, not dismissed.

Pertaining to you and I. If you are willing to “hug it out” as you once suggested to me, then I am on board. The back and fourth between you and I awhile back, is what put me on guard with certain members on the forum.

IMO, DeSantis is gaining momentum as a candidate for President. It appears he is trying to position himself as another Trump but without the baggage. I don't think it will work out for him. He has taken too many positions, abortion for example, that are contrary to what the majority of the US population wants. It appears that the Trump base is fading. Republicans are looking like they would like someone that wants to bring the country together rather than destroy democracy and further the division. It appears there are growing concerns that endorsing Trump or a Trump like candidate will put the jobs of some republicans in congress at risk, negatively impacting the support of Republicans in congress. My guess there are many that are hoping his is indicted. I think the task of the Democrats is to choose a younger candidate that is strong and with a proven record or a prominent celebrity. My preference would be a comedian.
