Couric is a lightweight. No wonder CBS news has tanked since she took over anchor duties. She is way out of her league and should go back the morning chats about what's hot for fall fashions.

sorry Marylander but I wonder if we watched the same interview. In your book that's genius?? WOOW!

Hail his outspokenness: (“You say what's on your mind and I think people appreciate that.”)

Ignore obvious factual/historical flubs: (Biden: “When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on television...”) FDR was not in office at the time of the 1929 crash and his "fireside chats" were on the radio.

Relay as reality positive campaign spin about his attributes: (“Relating to the fears of the average American is one of Biden's strong suits.”)

Cue up campaign rally attendees to praise: (“What was it about what he said that really resonated with you in particular?” Answers: “I think he expressed what most working Americans feel at the moment. He seems to relate to our pain.” and “I want him in office because I believe he will do things for women.”)

Empathize with the challenge he faces at the upcoming debate: (“Are you worried you're going to have to pull your punches a bit because of her gender and you don't want to seem like you're bullying her? It's a different dynamic when it's a male/female thing, isn't it?

I'm not a Republican but I think she handled the snotty little Couric (who REALLY isn't very smart) very well. Look at both interviews and Palin comes off as a genuis compared to Biden.

It is very sad but neither of the vice president candidates impress me. Actually they are both very poor candidates in my opinion. The difference between Palin and Biden is that the chance of seeing Biden becoming a president are slim fortunately while we cannot say the same for Palin. McCain is old and there is a pretty high risk that he may not finish his 4 years term. That means that there are a fair amount of chances that Palin will be the next president of the USA and that my friends is really scary. Imagine Palin against Medvedev/Putin in a crisis similar to the Cuba missiles crisis of 1962!

I did not see the interview in full, but I saw the exchange about the foreign policy experience derived from the proximity to Russia.
That was one scary moment when she looked lost and started talking about how "Putin is rearing his head over Alaska's air space"

Quicksilver: Can you find that exchange?

My comments, written above in Post #17, were not based one iota
on the Couric interview, of which I've only seen a snippet and could
not care less about...my opins of Palin remain: she is a whiney sounding
lightweight that might be groomable for national politics over a long
time, but is curretnly in way over her head. I have come to realize that most
politicos become skilled at talking points, but few could run a biz of
any kind. She, Palin, is not different in that regard, imo.

Lil'Mac did an anti-Hillary pick and he and his handlers are trying to
manage her. She may have some skills, but being Prez anytime soon
is not one of them, imo.

Take the interviewer out of the equation. Her responses are nonsensical.

Even more interesting is all the people who are so self assured that if something was to happen to McCain she's ready to get in the saddle as President................. Please..
