In June 2020, in the aftermath of the nationwide rioting following the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer, Kamala Harris even gleefully predicted that the protests, during which rioting and looting occurred, wouldn’t end, telling Stephen Colbert, host of The Late Show, that they shouldn’t end.

“They’re not going to stop. They’re not going to stop,” she told him. “This is a movement, I’m telling you. They’re not gonna stop. And everyone beware because they’re not gonna stop. They’re not gonna stop before Election Day and they’re not going to stop after Election Day. And everyone should take note of that. They’re not gonna let up and they should not.”

Man charged over killing of retired St Louis police captain during riots

June 8, 2020 — 5.06pm

St Louis: A 24-year-old St Louis, Missouri, man has been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a retired police captain who died on a night of violent protests while trying to protect his friend's pawn shop, the city's prosecutor announced.

Stephan Cannon was being held without bond on a first-degree murder charge in the death of David Dorn, 77, who was killed on Tuesday on the sidewalk outside Lee's Pawn and Jewelry. Dorn's last moments were caught on video and apparently posted on Facebook Live, though the video has since been taken down.

Dorn's death came on a violent night in St Louis, where four officers were shot, officers were pelted with rocks and fireworks, and 55 businesses were looted or damaged, including a convenience store that burnt.

A 24-year-old insurrectionist destroyed this man’s legacy!

The Vice President elect not only condoned these actions, but stated, “they should not let up!”

DISGUSTING!

Do you really think that you need to repeat your claim regarding Kamala Harris in four (4) separate posts….?

FWIW, my interpretation of what Kamala Harris was saying in that interview with Stephen Colbert back on June 18, 2020, is that the peaceful protests around our country at that time, as well as in many foreign countries, were calling on our state and local governments to recognize that there is a double standard when it comes to racial justice, specifically on how L.E.O.’s deal with blacks versus whites, needs to be addressed. Based on this reality, the protesters were calling on local and state governments to effect a change in the way that police departments hire and train their officers to correct this injustice. While I support our law enforcement agencies and offices I agree with this position, understanding that there are a minority of officers who let their personal biases and racial prejudices interfere with doing their sworn duty to uphold and enforce the law.

I am afraid that systemic racism will continue in our country for quite some time and therefore, I agree with Kamala Harris that in all likelihood, that these types of protests will most likely continue in the months and years to come and in my mind will be justified.

Having said that, I separate out all peaceful protestors from those people who feel justified in perpetuating violent criminal behavior of desecrating or destroying public or private property, looting retail establishments, let alone any physical harm to other people, whether they are L.E.O.’s or the general public. Any person who commits a criminal act should be arrested, charged and let a court of law determine their guilt based on the evidence and then decide on an appropriate sentence.

Doing nothing is a high risk choice. There is no way to know what a cornered Malignant narcissist will do except it will be violent.

I don't think there is any other established avenues such as house arrest that could be applied. Would help if someone or some number of people formally clear everything he wants to do. Sounds like there is an informal group doing that now. Another option is do something that is not clearly illegal or if illegal that removes him from office and can't be sorted out until after he is no longer a threat.

I expect the only practical action will be to watch him as close as possible using an informal process. Currently congress couldn't make a straight line to the john so I don't think doing anything significant is remotely possible. If he has a platform to incite his followers it could make what's most likely going happen anyway worse but the terrorists are already out of the bottle. Nothing further is needed. It's not if but when.

I agree that we all are going to be holding our breath for the next ten days until Joe Biden is inaugurated as our next POTUS. Ideally, if Donald Trump had any integrity, he would resign. But, alas, we know that he does not and therefore will not.

I also agree, and have believed for the past 4-5 years that Donald Trump is unfit to hold the office of the POTUS and, after this past Wed., his words and actions pose a clear and present danger to the safety of the United States.

I do not fully know the process and procedures, let alone the realistic chances of removing Trump from office via either V.P. Pence and a majority of the Cabinet members invoking the 25th Amendment or Congress initiating another attempt at impeaching Trump. But the events of Jan. 6th require a firm and immediate response from our government to send the signal to the domestic terrorist rioters that there are severe legal penalties and consequences to their actions. At this point, those two approaches may not succeed in the remaining time that Trump is in office. Yet, one of the added very appealing benefits of a successful impeachment of Trump by the House of Representatives AND conviction by the Senate, is that it would prohibit Donald Trump from running for and holding any U.S. elected office in the future.

I do think that another option to sanction Trump’s conduct that is currently being discussed is for Congress to censure Trump in a public shaming. Essentially, it is a formal statement of condemnation, reprimand and disapproval of Trump’s actions to incite the mob at the rally to move on the U.S. Capitol. While it is mostly symbolic, it would send a strong, undeniable judgement of our elected representatives that Trump’s actions were a betrayal of his sworn duty and the rules of our Constitutional Republic. It would require the support of Congress and could conceivably be passed before Joe Biden’s inauguration on Jan. 20th. If Trump is censured, it could further reduce his chances of successfully running again for POTUS.

It will be a very interested next ten days…..

AVB-AMG:

You can’t begin to know what I went through regarding racism, throughout the 80’ and 90’s.

FWIW: Your opinion on our Vice President elect, only holds merit with you.

I don’t have opinions. Only facts!

He's just here to make noise and make sure he's at the center of attention. He's not really interested in understanding other people's point of view. His only concern is making sure we address him and stroke his fragile ego.

I don't know how talking about the sedition and the pivotal role trump played in last week's tragic riot (5 dead) makes him feel he's somehow wronged.

You were never part of the conversation dude.

Seriously, our only interest here is talking about the issues, not getting into a pissing match with one another.

If all you have is a repeat of the conspiracy that you believe in, I don't think anyone is going to take you seriously.

I for one, do not agree totally with this statement by any means.
