Drive Home a New 2007 BMW for $500 Below Invoice?

I got a flyer in the mail today that advertises that you can drive a new '07 BMW off the lot at $500 below invoice. Along the right margin, they show the vehicles that the offer is valid on. It says 2007 Z-Series, 2007 3-Series, etc, and then it says "2007 7-Series", but the picture shows a black '03 745i. Not only can I tell becuase of the looks, but the license plate says "BMW 745i"   But wait, it gets better. Right below it, it says "2007 X-Series" Not only is the picture a silver E53 4.4i, it's a pre facelift one too. How could these people possibly be so dumb? I may call them tomorrow and see what it is about.
BTW the dealership is Lou Bachrodt BMW in Rockford, IL.

I'd bet the Marketing / Advertising company they hired knows nothing about the car..Probably pulled an image off the net after they were told to create the deliverable (the ad). Happens a lot when low cost and/or local ad/marketing companies are engaged (vs corporate).

Be interesting to hear what they tell you when you call..

I know...I'll say which one are you offering the deal on? The 2000 X5 you are showing or the 2007?

Nah, say E53 or E70 and watch them go "no, this is the X5 model" ;)

yes! that is exactly it! Did you make a thread earlier? Sorry if I missed it, I searched :)
I never knew they had a BMW dealer in Rockford....

no, i didn't post a thread , i just sorted my junk mail and saw the flyer before i read your post, .......And yes, i was also surprised there is a BMW dealer out there!

I doubt that anybody will actually walk out the door 500 below...there's always a catch.

buschy 08-07-2007 09:36 AM

so, is $500 below msrp a good deal? you got me confused?

GUINNESS 08-07-2007 09:50 AM

$500 below MSRP is not, but $500 under INVCOICE sure is. If you work the deal right, most places sell somewhere between invoice and msrp... unless it's an untouchable car and there's mark up over msrp.

Our X3 was purchased below invoice, and yea, it was largely because of that reason, that my dad bought it instead of ordering a MY '05 X3. Or taking the 325i SMG (which was the one I had suggested).

To me, the $200-ish below invoice wasn't such a great deal seeing as how the vehicle had been sitting on the lot for many months and had 157 miles. Plus, it was the most expensive X3 in stock at the time.

trueX5er 08-08-2007 12:55 PM

157 miles??? How did they explain that???

well DUH it was a test driven vehicle. Production month was Feb '04, so it mustve arrived at the dealership around March. The dealership allows you to test drive almost any car. Thus, I'm pretty sure proper break-in wasn't followed......

I mean, I test drove a brand, spanking new 335i sport coupe, Montego Blue with sat nav and 8 miles on the clock last year. It was the only 335i they had at the time, since someone had cancelled at the last moment

ok, well I wasn't sure because "sitting on the lot" implies it is new. So it was a demo.

I suppose. I forget though, isn't there a special warranty for demonstrators? Or is that for loaners?
