Can the 'yellow' rings (headlights) be replaced with the latest 'white' looking rings

I have 35d 2010 and was wondering if the yellowish looking rings can be updated with the now 'white' looking corona ring things .. anybody?

Yup!

Just a bulb change..

Allow me to elaborate though; I bought a set of the LED's from eBay and they went in and worked fine in the beginning then the "guaranteed not to throw codes" globes started throwing codes!

So I scrapped em and bought a pair of Weisslicht ones from Bimmian and they are a MUCH better unit and threw no codes at all. However in the last two weeks I've had the check park lamp warning and upon inspection one of them is cutting in and out, I traced this back to a loose wire (the pig tail connector that comes out of it must be loose inside) So I will either pull it out and see if its an easy fix myself or return for repair or replacement to them (they carry a 12 month warranty)

Here's a CTRL C, CTRL V form one of my blogs.

NExt up I ordered another set of Halo LED's from Bimmian as I wasn't 100% with the first set..

New WeissLicht LED kit

Old

New

Old

New (note the difference)

Old

New

Closeup

Full frontal

Again shitty camera phone shots..

Big difference in quality as you can see (and price) the first set intermittently threw the check light code and they started to actually change colour from each other..

Right away I can tell the new ones have better clarity, I hope they hold up and don't throw codes.

Hope that helps!

do you reckon BMW would do a replacement with stock parts in their workshop? or would they make you try and trade the whole car

haha it would probably work out to be a change over figure

To the best of my understanding, the newer corona's are a sealed unit. So I guess that may mean getting the newer headlamps? then I don't even know what compatibility is like.. may find the answer in the E70 forum perhaps?
