Coding in e53 Aus

I know there are posts in other forums but thought I'd ask the local guys what their experience with coding has been. I am keen to code a couple things with my e53 2004, mainly key/comfort settings etc...

I see Ninja was formerly in Sydney a offering coding, is there any other members or businesses you guy can recommend?

Alternately I am looking at getting the GT1 and coding software from bmcables.com and using Progman to do this. Anyone have experience with the DIY solutions?

cold monitoring

Hi Frozen Waffles. I have led angel eyes and want to stop them flickering when I start the car. Can you fix this problem for me, and if so, how much would it cost? Thanks.

hi brian, do you know what 'feature' is causing the flickering?

The flickering is caused by cold monitoring. Every time the car is started it cold monitors all lights to check if the bulbs are ok. This is standard, and usually is not noticed, but when LEDs are installed they flicker, where other bulbs are not noticeable. They do not tolerate this flickering for ever, and eventually weaken in brightness or die completely. Cold monitoring can be turned off by coding.

I’m sorry but this is not correct.
While I can understand some people may want to turn off the lamp check feature when using LED lights, doing it solely to extend the life of the LED’s is a misnomer.
LED’s are not in any way affected by being pulsed, such as the lamp check signal you are referring to.
Pulsing LED’s is actually a very energy efficient way of reducing their brightness and is commonly found is all sorts of applications such as LED clocks, the backlight in your phone/tablet, and even LED TV’s.
While it is true LED’s lose some of their brightness over time (many years), this really only applies to the new super bright ones such as those used in LED floodlights and some of the brighter replacements for household halogen globes.
The key here is that the LED’s that are warm/hot when running will have a diminishing light output over time; manufacturing quality also plays a big part with this too.

It is a well known fact that LEDs will not tolerate flickering. I have had several sets burn out or go brown in the centre and weaken in brightness after only a few months, so I do know what I am talking about.
I would respectfully suggest you do more research regarding LED bulbs. They do not tolerate cold monitoring, or as you refer to it as lamp check signal.
