E53 3.0d 2006 - Battery Replacement Options in Oz

Sorry for not searching first (i did do a little search, but came up with US and UK results)

Any of you good X5 folk know the best Battery i can get my hands on in Australia.

OEM died 12 months ago, then some guy sold us a cheap as Battery (as we were stuck in town), its finally started dieing, yep 12 months old.

So time to instal a proper replacement Battery in the '06 E53 3.0d
Should i just use the Australian Battery websites and search for my make and model??

Thank you for any help. The missus is having a bad run

If you can confirm part number on the AC delco I can get you a good price.

Would the S number be the model no.?

Ratings are similar to OEM, but i believe you can get higher rated ones, 900 to 1000CCA and 185 RC

The BMW specs sheet also allow and AGM battery now too.
I can get cheap AGM batteries that go the Ford Territories, not sure if they would be a match?

That's perfect. I'll get the parts guys onto it. Using those dimensions I will ask them to find a sealed battery with the best AH rating and highest CCA.

I got them to upgrade the battery in my PubFinder from 600cca to 1000cca. It was a beast of a battery, the car turns over in about half the time.

Thanks Smokey, that is exactly the type of replacement i was looking for.
As i know there are better options that are more powerful than OEM or like for like after market.

The X5 is struggling in the cold weather to crank, but we got jibbed with a bog standard lead acid battery that was out of date when i just went and looked.

And apart from cranking, we all know what thirsty battery pigs the X5's are when the engine is not running
Apparently the Red Top OPTIMA battery is brilliant, but it doesn't quite fit in the tub, some people quote they made it fit bit raising the spare wheel bracket with spacers. 10 to 11 life span... not bad.

PMSL @ PubFinder... it took me a minute but i got it.

Lol - yeah that's what I called the Pathfinder, it drank fuel like an alcoholic drinks beer so it was quite fitting!

I work for Caterpillar. Our batteries are made to stand up to the harshest conditions, vibrations, dust etc In trucks and machinery that lives outside all night in freezing cold and has to start on the hottest days in the most remote parts of the world. It takes a lot to kill them, and they come with a 5 year warranty.

Haha - just found a pic of the battery I installed. As you can see it was a fair step up!

Yep no worries I'll send you a price and you can think about it. Doesn't worry me either way but will be good research for myself for the future!
