Have you had all the ball and spherical joints replaced yet? I had all the front ones done at 27000, 38000, 48000 and 61000 miles. Shox were knackered at 35000 but they told me they are good for 80000 miles - Hah..!!

your roads must be bad up there?

most joints last upto 60-70,000 down here

Yes the roads are mostly very bad up this way. They try to maintain and patch the major roads but the lesser ones fall by the wayside. The last two winters didn't help much either. I passed the X5 on at 64000 miles and it had had five track-rod ends and five other joint replacements. Four BC computers (I think three were not necessary - but who am I to pass judgement. I loved the car so did everyone I know who ever rode in it. Now have X1 and it is not a patch on the X5 but still a fine vehicle and very economical.
