I am trying to decide when to replace my timing chain guides - the so called weak link of the E53 X5 4.4i.

Thanks for the advice. It sure seems the subframe needs to be removed. I also see TriX5's point, that with it lose that will be enough to get the AT out. That's good to know it worked for him.
