Unless your planning on doing an LSX swap I would just buy one privately. There is so much to go wrong on these vehicles that not inspecting the vehicle in person or getting a ppi before buying...

Count your blessings. If the car you purchase was enthusiast owned then obviously you will get more miles out of these SAV's before problems but buying a used 4.6 or 4.8 now is a ticking time bomb...

Did valve cover on my 03' 3.0i. It was smoking bad and found out why tonight! It was missing a bolt, washer, rubber insert and oil was pissing on the header. Whoever serviced it last was a jackass....

I never did the swap. Bought a 2005 BMW X5 6 speed sold that and now have a 2003 x5 5 speed. Would love to find out if its doable. A 6 speed trans out of an x5 just went unsold on ebay for $420...
