Anyone Experience with Yokohoma Geolander?
 

I just want to know if anyone has had any experience with the Geolander tires? Not to sure if I should get them for a 2002 sport. 3.0

I also have a Mitsubishi Pajero (Montero) which comes from the factory with these.
100,000Km on the original set and am close to replacing them. Very happy!
Quiet on the road, pretty good in sand, not so great in heavy mud.

Just curious, are they called Pajero's down under, or is it a Japanese import?

I had some Geolanders put on my Jeep Grand Cherokee and I thought they were great all weather tires, quiet and got great wear............

Pajero is the name in Australia. Heaps of them around. Good for 7 seats and some decent 4WD work. The X5 has yet to experience the off road stuff. Will be very interesting to see how it goes, but very embarrasing if it gets stuck! After 4 Pajeros I have a good idea of what they can do off-road, but the X5 has a real 'drive by wire' feel to it so I am a little nervous about its capabilities.

If you look at them in tirerack, they score well in very area: noise, wear, handling, response, wet + snow traction. There are many tires who do well in many of the areas, but nothing comes even close to Geolanders in terms of foing well in all of them. Read the review; they're all positive as well. This winter we will be getting new All Season tires; we will get the Geolanders.

I read all of the reviews posted from users of Tirerack and found that the Yokohama Geolander are two of the best tires for an SUV, however the Geolander will make me loose 1-2 MPG and the reviews that I got from X5 owners aren't that good. The other set are the Bridgestone Dueler Alenza, these are new tires on the market and so far has pretty good reviews, users are reporting a gain of 1-2 mpg after they change this tires. X5 user have positive feedback using the Bridgestone Dueler Alenza. So I think I will be going to Costo to see if they could order them for me and get them with Nitrogen.

I wonder why the Geolanders would make you lost that much mpg? I only get 18.3 mpg right now. If it drops to 16 because of my new Geolanders, I'm not going to be very happy. Over the life of the tires, that adds up to big bucks at the gas tank.

I'm a big fan of the Alenza...... but can't speak to the mileage issue. We don't have nitrogen, but can get you a good price on the tires !
