Opinion needed for smoked taillights
4 Attachment(s)
I bought a film to smoke the taillights. I plan on having them professionally sprayed when I figure out what I want do to.
First picture is the lights as is. Second and third picture is with the tint applied. It is a fairly light tint. On the left side I tinted the entire light. On the right side I cut out the reverse lights. I got the idea from another forum user (his car is the fourth picture). I thought it looked fantastic on the white X5M with everything else blacked out. Since I left the side LED light white I thought I might look OK. Thoughts? |
I like the third pic the best! On the white car, the tint is obviously a lot darker and the white stripe (reverse light) actually looks good.
In your case I think the whole light tinted looks best, unless you also go with a darker tint! |

Thanks
The sunlight makes the tint look lighter than it is. I may try a darker. A dusk with the light fading it looked darker. Then the right (cut out) side looked better. The other side looked dirty. |

The white car is amazing. With the tint that light, I would do the entire light. |
I am just not fan of everything blacked out, seems sort of 90's to me. Stock tails look nice with the all white...the new ones with the thinner white will be better though.

The clear section looks good and is needed for the reverse lights, not sure why you'd want to tint it.

I think the white truck looks great with the red lenses blacked out. I think the darker color trucks look great just the opposite as I like the contrast with the red lenses. Good thing we all dont feel the same and have the same tastes or everyone would have identical trucks. How boring would that be

I tinted the whole thing but saw pics of someone else leaving the reverse lights out. I tried to see how that would go by scoring a bit of film on the bottom reflector but it actually scored the lens a little bit. Did you have trouble taking out the film from the reverse lights without touching the lens itself? Mine's been on for 5 months now and may be difficult to just peel off now anyway.

Those are great machines guys I agree but too much of everything really start removing the pedigree of the truck. I just dont subscribe to ALL BLACK truck like New Zealand rugby team, its a health hazard to the car occupants. Tinted or sprayed reflectors really does reduces reaction time for another driver when parked or having breakdown or something on highway. Anyway, we all have different tastes... some like big mamas some like slender girls, bottom line we all get laid oneway or another...:dunno: |
My tint is very light. I did not have an issue removing the reverse portion. I removed it with a razor blade when the film was wet. Leaning towards spraying the entire light with a very light tint. Just enough to reduce some of the stand out red.
