What's with the rear camber on the X5/X5M's?
So i got my X5M about a year and a half ago and it had brand new tires on it. 18 months and 17k later the inside of the rears are basically bald. I had an alignment done back in january to hopefully slow the wear on the inside's but when i got the sheet showing the specs almost everything was in spec....yet the vehicle still has what appears to be a good amount of camber in the rear.

Is this normal? Do your guys rear's wear evenly?

I bought a new set of tires for the vehicle....but i want to be on top of this before i have them installed as i'm not ok with tires only lasting 15-20k because of uneven tire wear.

Any insight/suggestions are appreciated.

Worry less about the camber and more about the rear toe. That is usually the cause of rapid rear tire wear.

There is a published spec, but you want it set to the minimum of that range to maximize tire life. It will still toe in, but very little. You want some toe in for handling.

To visualize how this toe causes wear, think about the tire continually having to scuff as the vehicle proceeds down the road, since the toe in causes the tire to point slightly off the direction of travel. With wide tires, the greatest amount of scuffing happens at the inner and outer edges. And with the normal camber, the inside will wear more than the outside. So normal camber contributes, but it is the toe that promotes the wear.
