Gas milage to California

Julia and I left Prescott at 6:30am yesterday on our trip to Morgan Hill Ca. 720 miles and 10 hours 45 minutes later we were here. Short of a head wind from Barstow to Bakersfield the trip went well. I tried to keep it at 80-85mph as much as I could. Sometimes I was able to run at 90 for extending periods. Overall average was 23.5 mpg. Would of been better had I kept it at the legal limit the whole trip. I'm very happy with the result. I do think that adding 1/2 qt of our "Roil Gold" metal conditioning product helped the milage though. I'm not an additive fan but the science behind the product was to compelling not to try it.

I had similar results on my trip last week from South Carolina to Michigan (14.5 hours). Interstate the majority of the way, MPG averaged 23.7. My speeds averaged about 78 or so, with the (frequent) sprint to pass trucks, idiots, etc. Great ride, and great milage!

My usual city/mix milage is about 20/21.

Sure can't complain about the milage. My 03 QX4 was lucky to 17 with a tail wind. Today we are installing the tailor made sheepskin on the sport seats. Our friends (old next door neighbors) own Rocky Mountain Sheepskins, so we get the goods everytime we get a new car. If anyone ever wants a set just ask me for their details and I'll send them to you. Dash covers and Cover Craft car covers are also available at great discounts.

Cool. Thanks! I'll let you know if I do...

why why why, why take away the beautiful leather sport seats :(

Rick in Prescott 06-10-2006 01:33 PM

My wife has MS and is only 5'2". She slides in to and out of the seat everytime. That's why why why. When you buy the best sheepskin and have them tailored to the sport seat they just look pretty darn nice. All the features of the seat are well defined with the covers on. I've put them on every BMW I've ever owned and have enjoyed every set. Cool in the summer and toasty warm in the winter. Add the heated seats and you'll never leave the car.:)

Don't mean to steal the thread away, but do tell me about your experiences with the Valentine V1 - I am very interested in how it works, how you set it up, etc...

Rick in Prescott 06-10-2006 03:39 PM

The V1 is great. It saved me a couple of times just on this trip. Set up is a snap. I wired it to the spare plug that would of been used for a homelink. I like the V1 because of its high sensitivity and its 360 degree indicators on the display.

how do they work if you have seat mounted side airbags like on my rover?

Rick in Prescott 06-10-2006 03:43 PM

Our sport seats do not have seat mounted air bags. They are in the door. Seat covers are routinely modified to assure that the bags will work though, for those that do. Call 408-266-2110. Ask for Jim, Uta or Chris. Tell them Rick Irrgang sent you.
