Transmission Warning Light

The wife pulled into the driveway this evening saying a warning light was on and the X3 was driving rough. Its an 07 auto with 10K miles on the clock.... Once I restarted the car it would only go in reverse. The assist guys were great and sent a wrecker quickly. Of course by the time the wrecker got there the car ran fine and the light was off. I thinking maybe it is a sensor that has gone out.... Kinda sad watching the car being hauled off..... oh well..... the joys of BMW ownership. My new 525 is on the boat over after our euro delivery so I have that bright spot to look forward to.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the computer should store the code. It may just be a sensor that had a hiccup.

Turned out to be a software glitch and they updated the trans and DME with the latest server. I guess it is good to know that it wasn't mechanical but at the same time its scary to think the software can crash (mental pictures of the blue screen of death) and cause the trans to be inoperable.
