BMW X3 angel eyes CCFL affects the front PDC!
Hi everyone, Just installed CCFL angel eyes found a couple of ways to wire them up and they light up and look good. The problem I have when they are switched on they interfere with the front parking sensors by making them constant beep.
I have tried wiring them up to the accessory wire and through the headlights and still it interferes with the front PDC. As soon as I disconnect them the pdc is back to normal. Any ideas would be great! Thanks ps I have a 2004 2.5se x3 |

i had this problem about 6-7 years ago when i wired up the CCFLs to my 4.6.
I have wired up a power wire (negative ground feed) via a relay that would cut off the power to the CCFLs once the Reverse gear was engaged and the PDC was activated. Since I already had the relay wired up to the pin 7 of the middle PDC connector for the rear camera (to activate the camera by providing ground to the TV module), I just wired that ground so it would disconnect the CCFLs when reverse gear was engaged, thus preventing the front PDC react to the CCFLs... did my rambling make any sense? |

how do you power the ballasts for your CCFLs? where do you tap for (+) and (-)?

well, in very simple terms, there are 4 CCFL rings, and 2 ballasts, each ballast feeds into two rings. each ballast receives 12 V DC, wired either individually via some kind of a switch, or in parallel, still via some kind of a switch. The switch could be triggered manually, or triggered automatically, via engine start, or headlight start.
What I am proposing, is the following - in the switch circuitry, introduce the relay, that will break the power line to the ballasts, when the relay is activated. Activate the relay using a reverse signal - when the car is in reverse, the reverse lights are activated, the PDC is activated, the relay is activated, the CCFLs are cut off... To get started, you will need to figure out where the power supply to the CCFL is... Than, once you find it, we will move further, one step at a time... |

are the ballasts inside the headlights?
those ballasts do not last long enough, i had a dozen on a stand by, as i was replacing them like there was no tomorrow... where are the power wires for the ballasts? those are the ones we are looking for... |
do we have any resolution to the problem? i sure can try to help as much as i can - i had this issue that i already resolved years ago...
