Yep, seen your setup and it was one of the reasons I went with cutouts on mine. I went the way I did as I wanted to bypass the resonator and let the Dinan mufflers do their thing. I can not stand dumps. The drone and vibration of having the exhaust exit under the floor pan always bothers me.

I'm wishing I had just cutout the resonator and done an X pipe though as I never close the cutouts. I think I've closed them three times... maybe.

- Spent a couple of hours degreasing the engine. Now it looks clean and shiny... and most importantly, dry. Used a couple of cans of brake clean and some purple power. Wish I had taken an after picture. ~$10

- Dropped the oil that the dealership put in as it was causing leaking at a number of seals. Drained the filter housing but did not put in a new filter.
Filled truck with a temporary mix of Castrol dino 20w50, AT205, and Lucas oil stabilizer. ~$80.00

- Gave the X5 a bath. Also cleaned the front and rear end of the X5 in preparation for body kit install. I didn't want to put clean parts over dirty parts. Plus the access to everything was just too tempting. $0.00

- Fitted the aero kit front bumper that came back from the painter. This is a very fiddly affair and requires trimming a good portion of the brake ducts to clear. Test fitted it over a dozen times to get fitment as good as possible. The side mounting tabs are broken as is common from people pulling on the sides of the bumper without releasing the clips from the backside. Looks pretty good after all the fitting and fiddling though and I'm happy with it. Can't wait for the rest of the kit to come back, getting anxious to drive this thing again. Plus need to get it inspected and renew registration. It expires the 31st. $0.00

Are you putting the fender flares that come with the kit or can the original iS flares be used with this kit?

The bumpers are too wide for the factory flares. Body lines would not match up. I am not using the big door pods though, the ones that cover the front and rear doors. I am keeping the thin black door guard trim.

- Trying to send this year out with a bang. Got both rear door flare panels prepped and mounted. Need to order more 3M adhesive trim tape. This kit uses at least 30 feet of it. Maybe more. LOL this stuff isn't cheap.

Paint looks like a good match.

I very seldom open the cutouts unless I am using nitrous. Dinan exhaust is just the right level of sound for me and no drone though there is no drone with cutouts open either.

Short update today.

January 5, 2019

- Replaced the battery in the spare key today. Hasn't worked since the truck was purchased. Must have been dropped one too many times as, when opened, discovered that the negative lead from the battery had broken its solder joint from the board. Still read 2.81v but I replaced it with a new battery that was at 2.98v. Re-initialized the two keys and all is right with the world. $14.02

Finally got your Aero kit. Did you follow my way by buying one with it and swap the parts?

Sure did Tam. Was wondering if you still checked in here. Let me tell you, I wish you had done an install thread as info on the kit is near non-existent. :D I ordered new fasteners for the few I could find part numbers for... But I think I'll be able to make due. ;)

I did end up buying a truck with the kit. I don't think I bought as clean an example as you did though. My body guy has been working for a month (side job) repairing the kit. Especially the rear bumper.

Congrats on finding one. Seems like it doesn't have the door pieces. Either way should look fine in IR. Does it has a tow-hitch cover or no?

Well, your kit was probably in better condition when you got to taking it off the donor vehicle than mine was. Not all the fasteners were present and some serious repair was necessary. Fortunately the body guy did an incredible job though it did take a month+... but I'd rather it be done right than done fast.

No door pieces on this one, and honestly on imola especially, I think I prefer it without the pods. Gives the truck a little more of a "waist" and adds to the flared wide-body effect. At least to my eyes. No tow-hitch cover either as my 4.8 is tow package equipped... as was the donor truck so it did not come with the cover.

I saw that you sold your truck on Panjo... ran across the images when I was doing aero kit research. How did that experience go?
