Eonon D5166X, MB Quart amp, factory subs installed

So after the factory stereo completely lost it's pixels I decided to update the Stereo. The Eonon went in with no problems. It is slightly quirky, But works great. I believe I bought it for under $300. The backup cam is a great feature. They do have a newer model but I wanted to go with on that is proven to work.
I decided to use a factory sub box and wire the speaker in parallel. I believe it brings the 8ohm speaker down to 4.
I did this before in an e39 with good results. An aftermarket amp has plenty of power to run the subs very efficiently.
The end result sounds great and I am so happy to have blue tooth.
The Amp in the Eonon actually makes the factors speakers sounds better as well.

 Clean install from what I can see.

My Avin Avant 2 also made the factory speakers sound better vs. the stock system in my last X5.

Eonon's nice and all, but what is this sinister magic with your dash? That looks nothing like an E53 center console.

The 6spds came with base HVAC controls as the starting point. Not dual zone or single zone climate control as seen on most e53's.

Freaky. I didn't know BMW was even doing dials for HVAC in this era. I thought it was some weird GM retrofit. :dunno:

Actually, that's just a non-premium packaged car. My mother-in-law's '01 sport package has the same dials. It's an automatic. They're perfect for her, too because she is older and those controls are gloriously simple.

Yes it is pretty funny how simple of a design it is.

My car was definitely stripped down on options but fortunately it has a sport steering wheel and 18" wheels

Yep, but you almost never see a non premium 4.4i. And rarely (from my experience) do you see it even on a 3.0i auto. My statement was more a generalization than a rule. :D

Agree on the simplicity of the system, though it does leave that area of the dashboard looking pretty sparse.

So the rare duck to find is a six speed Premium Package. Yummy.

I am afraid if I found a manual X5, I'd have to go full on with an SC and diffs and.. and.. and like crazy silly stoopid that's-not-what-this-is-for kind of mods. Be a damn blast.

Just curious,
is there a opening (hole or grill) in the panel for the factory subs to fire through? I tried looking for one before I cut mine up.
