I’ve been seeing in my research a lot of DIY Eaton (mostly the M62) installs on various vehicles including M62 engine BMWs. I have a ‘06 E53 4.4i (with the N62 engine) and want to see some moderate boost to low end torque and HP.
I have seen people use the M122 on BMWs and so I started considering that particular SC. Then I came across the version developed for 4.4l V8 caddies that can be found on eBay complete with intake manifold, throttle body, and the like. Here’s a link to some pictures: 1: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/L9oAA...lud/s-l300.jpg 2: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/AIgAA...lui/s-l300.jpg 3: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/qVEAA...lut/s-l300.jpg Why shouldn’t we use this package as a foundation for an E53 SC? Am I nuts for even suggesting it? I mean, like i said I’ve seen M122s installed on M62 engine BMWs so why not the N62... |

funny you mention this because at one point ESS developed a Twin Scroll SC for the n62 engine, which, unfortunately is no longer in production.. I've seen, most recently a 4.8is with one mounted that was being auctioned off.. |
ESS have followed up with a kit for the 4.8 engines, but unfortunately, not available for the X5.

Fortunately, he is also working on a E53 kit, with a similar setup to the original ESS unit. Here's the 545 running: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYgE-KZq5A4 Here's his website with news on the M122: https://thecrazydiyengineer.com/my-p...ercharger-set/ |
What actually prevents the set to sit on a E53?
