I'm debating whether to even head the route of redo PC on the VC .

I know magnesium is a b1tch to get right on prep. I went over the details with the PC. He's done wheels and calipers and such in the past for me.....
We were clear on the prep since it's mag.
I dunno if it's worth the effort to do a round 2..

I'll just say that if its done right, then the finish lasts without bubbling. I have had 4 sets of valve covers done in PC all by the same powder coater. The oldest on in service is going on 6 years and still in perfect shape. The newest set of valve covers was done 2.5 years ago on the 4.6is and is still in great shape. I would suspect that the magnesium valve covers in your case were not properly prepped (outgassed long enough to clear the impregnated oil).

Did you outgas the valve covers before painting them/clearing? This needs to be done to assure that the finish will last.

Yeah, I pre-baked the parts at 500F, a temperature that is a bit higher than the cure temperature for about 15 min after sandblasting. This drove the bulk of the entrapped gas out, which is more than enough in my case.
