Heh Andrew, can the leaky fuel valve eventually fail so that the engine will crank over but it will just not start.

regards

If you mean can the siphon o-ring fail where you have gas but can't start? That's exactly what happens. When any part of the siphon jet system fails fuel will be stuck on the left lobe of the tank and will never get to the electric pump and therefore the engine.

You can use test six to confirm. You will typically see about 19-25L of gas on the left and 0.0 on the right when the engine stalls or won't start.

Put a couple gallons of fuel in and you should see 1.4L on the right and the car will start right up but be warned you will not get to use most of the 2gal you just put in because half will spill to the left side and the rest will quickly go out to the FPR and back to the leaky siphon jet.

ok, so I just got over a leaking oil pressure sensor and I think I may have valve gasket oil leaks. Anyway, I have not fixed the fuel sender issue yet. I went to start and it would crank but not start. I thought ok maybe a fuel issue. The gauge was at just over half. So, I thought MAF or fuel sender. I unplugged the MAF and same problem so that ruled out the MAF. I went and put some more fuel in and tried but the same issue. I tried again a bit later with same result but I didn’t check the option 6 on any of these. I might go have a look now.

Listen for the fuel pump whirr at key on before crank also make sure you have gas at the rail.

ok, so over 50L in the right and plenty in the left. Interesting I tried to start it and it kicked over. Running rough on idle and then it automatically increased in revs without me touching the pedal and the reduced, stumbled and stopped. Tried again and it tried but then stopped. I will try again later.

The right side only holds 27. Left Max of 55. Wonky idle points to throttle position sensor or some air or fuel supply problem.

In any event it is way easier to solve a crappy running car than one that won't start at all

I will get my odb 2 scanner on it and see.

i mean obd2...:)

Scans show nothing. Will check the fuel pump relay tomorrow as well as use my small jump start unit for some extra starting current.
