Window shattered

1 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone,

I went outside to find my front passenger window was shattered!
It was being held with tint, no signs of blunt force trauma or anything like that.
It happened at around 10am local time when sun was out on full force in that direction (24C temp)

Just wanted to know if this a a common issue or anything like that lol
In the past two years I have replaced window regulator and door handle carrier but everything worked fine..

I doubt it just self imploded on its own in any temp, much less 24c (75 deg F).
I am not aware of this as a common issue. I suppose it is possible it was under some kind of stress in the closed position.

Was common on in the 70's models but when you open the door with the window down. The door check would detach and as the door opened it would break the glass.

If you look at the fracture of the glass you can see where the glass was impacted by an object, such as a pellet from a BB gun. Too bad you are all the way up in Toronto, I have a spare passenger side glass not OEM.

This won't help but it will add to the mystery. In my office, we have all glass walls. Nice looking...until what happened to your window happened to one of the safety glass walls out of no where. 2 weeks ago it too was 24 deg C in Calgary and all of a sudden this loud sound happened and the entire 12ft tall 4ft wide glass sheet just spiderwedded for ZERO reason and it even has a epicenter where small cubes of glass blew out from. The guy in behind the glass wall, his first reaction was he got shot till he realized he was not... Sooooo odd. I've never seen anything like that just happen out of the blue! So yes it happens to safety glass even on non hot days, but why? No idea.
Was your vehicle outside? Could have been a break-in attempt for sure.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I had a closer look and the pressure point had started where the glass is held inside the door. I suspect it was over tightened by the last shop that did the window regulator.

I reviewed CCTV footage to confirm it was not vandalism.

on a short note I picked up a replacement glass only an hour away from me. The only thing I need to get is new window regulator retaining clips before I attempt anything!
