so, I see this has bery much sidetracked from the original question...
So none of you have used this Dinan Kit?
I wonder if its just smarter to get a local one, as one local tuner was advertising a 4% gain in both TQ and HP... but most importantly its to get this stuttering at 35-45 km/hr figured out first.

I think flashing your DME to the latest factory assembly number would take care of the stutter at 2800 RPM. Known issue.

As far as anyone having used this specific Dinan kit, it seems to be a brand new offering and I doubt any of us have. I do have the Dinan tunes in my gearbox and DME and have been happy with the results. Hell, for $200, what do you have to lose, just make sure to flash the latest factory stock DME assembly number before moving to the Dinan.

Problem is, my rpm gauge doesnt show a stutter on the gauge... only in the gas pedal is it felt, like there is power then not, then power then not... to a passenger, they'd never notice.

Hello. I ordered the 48x kit from DINAN yesterday after seeing this thread. I wanted one KIT for $199.99 and another “tune only” for an identically spec’d 4.8is...but they require two full kits to be purchased because they are a ready-made kit for specific models. (The tune, alone, retails for $119.99 but is only available like that to an authorized dealer. Anyways, I’m going to give it a shot with one of my 4.8is, but please educate me on how to “flash the latest factory stock DME assembly number”. Thank you. There is a link to dinan portal download and flashing instructions for tune on the product page for reference.

Click on the link I posted above and read that thread. One of the guys (moderator) over on E46Fanatics does this for any member over there for free. You might reach to to him for some help and he certainly knows the latest assembly file numbers. You will need a laptop computer and a K+D CAN cable (INPA) to run the WinKFP program to flash the DME.

Strictly speaking, you only need a K-line cable - there's no CAN on the e53 diag port. :D

I use this - as it's a lot cheaper than the full K+DCAN cable ($20 vs $69)....

Using premium does not increase power.
Premium does not burn hotter.
Premium does not clean out deposits.
Using premium does not improve mileage.

Just use the fuel the engine was designed to run. If the manual says to use regular purchasing premium is a waste money. If the manual says use premium that's what you should be using.

Dinan D900-45X kit (Engine software)

I just ordered the 4.6 ECU kit, because why not? My ride is running great and I’m thinking of doing a full preventative service so may just do this at the same time.

Sadly, the OP of that thread knows nothing about N62 engines... I think WinKFP can tell you if there is an update available...
