Missing gas cap now bank 2 misfires
1 Attachment(s)
My daughter told be the SES came on so I scanned the codes and found an evaporator leak fault P0442. When I check for the gas cap it was gone so I assumed the mystery was solved. Once I replace the gas cap and fired it up, the engine ran really rough - when I scanned again I got bank 2 lean codes and misfires. Note that the evaporator error has cleared itself since the screen shot. Seems a little too coincidental that these faults are not related to the missing gas cap, but it still does not name sense to me. Any ideas?

I would start by clearing everything and maybe even resetting adaptations and then see what comes up again.

As these codes popped up when the gas cap went missing, where was fuel added? Hope E85 was not used. I would add premium, clear the codes and run it.

the only code I had at first was the evaporator code. They the car sat for a couple of days while I got an OEM cap. I installed the cap, fired it up and it immediately ran terrible. Clearing codes does not help - the evap code is gone but all others remain

All those codes suggests either voltage problem or fuel supply problem.
Confirm alternator output 13.5 ± 0.3 including while driving with load eg high beams on and coasting to a stop (when revs drop from 2000> 600 is when voltage tends to drop) Confirm fuel pressure starts at 50psi when key is turned on and that It will maintain pressure overnight (should read 20-30psi after 8 hours). |
