E53 OBDII Port Dead
Hey all!
I was working on my X5 the other day when my cable for INPA came in! Naturally I watched all of the videos on how to set it up, and when I went to plug it in and nothing but no connection codes came up. After fiddling with it all day today I’m throwing in the towel. My OBD port lights up the little light on my scanner cable, but it does not send info to my PC. I checked the fuses, and they were all good. I figured out that fuse 7 will set of the immobilizer alarm if pulled! Jokes aside, do you have any info? It’s similar to another user whose 20 port cap was loose with a dim odometer and no codes from the 16 port OBD. Any suggestions? |

Which INPA cable did you buy? Are pins 7/8 bridged?
The quality control on the cheap cables isn't great. I have one cable that does the same as yours. Lights up at the OBD but passes no data to the computer. Another cable works fine. |

Also, a quick question. If I want to add the rear fog lights to my US spec X5, is it as simple as a euro LCM swap? I understand that I’ll get the mileage tamper light (which is already present on mine), but will I have to do any fancy wiring? I’ve got the bulbs in place and they’re wired up to something.
