2005 X5 Door Swap

I bought a very clean 2005 X5 4.4, but the driver's side doors, front and back, are too far dented to repair and I plan on just buying replacements. I have found a set, same color, but for a 2004 X5. The salvage yard says they are supposed to fit but before I go get them, does anyone know for sure what swaps in and out for a 2005? Also I need the left front fender, and they have one, but there is no badge where the 4.4 badge goes, just above the side light. Does that go in a slot, or do they just stick on the outside?

Thanks for any help, they are located a couple of hours away, and I don't want to waste a trip if I don't have to.

A 2004 is identical to a 2005... the doors and fender should work. You can confirm this via part numbers on RealOEM.

The badges are simply stuck on with adhesive (3M?).

Thanks my friend, that is going to make this a cheap fix

Watch the electrics - it's pretty easy to unplug the door loom at the hinge boot (after removing the retaining bolt) but disconnect the battery first or you could get a slew of SRS (Air Bag) errors. ;)

Will do. Thanks so much for the tip.

make sure there is no rust on the bottom edge....It's quite common on an E53 door.

-Which is the exact reason i'm also on the hunt for drivers side front and rear doors. :(

And now that we are on the subject, <hi-jack thread> Does anyone know why it seems like the drivers side door bottoms rust out way before the passenger side doors?
When searching the scrapyards, i can get as many rust-free passenger side doors as i want, but almost no drivers side doors. They are always more or less rotten. Why is that? </hi-jack thread>

Spray from passing vehicles gets the driver's side much wetter/dirtier... :dunno:

That is a contributing factor for sure.

I noticed yesterday in raining conditions that the lower door seal on my drivers doors seems to be blocking the front door drain when the door is closed.

When I open the door, quite a bit of rain water drains out of the door. Why is this?

My door seal is not loose...I need to look at it...I don't like the idea of a pool of rain water sitting in the bottom of my door shell.
