not happy with my new 2006 x5
just picked up my new 2006 x5 4.4 with all the options.
it is all ready back at the shop. has been for two days. bad wind noise on drivers side and has a lot of creaks and rattles. I thought i was buying a better quality car? does any one have any ideas |
sounds like you've got a lemon. Other then the tailgate creak on 04' X5 we havn't had any other creaks on either of ours.
|
doesn't sound like a typical X5. Hopefully the dealer will care for everything to your satisfaction.
:goodluck: and :xoutpost: |
Good luck, and welcome to the board.
UCrew is right. That is not typical. The X5 IS a high-quality car. |
49K miles on my '03 3.0 X5 and no creaks or rattles.
Hopefully the dealer can fix everything. |
I had a teribble whistling noise on my new 05 last august, was back at the dealer when it was just 3 days old, ended up having to have the window rubbers replaced and that solved the problem, since them drives like a dream .
Good luck, dont let this spoil the experience.:) :) |

My '02 X5 is relatively rattlefree except for owner induced noises (too much junk in the trunk). New cars are usually prepped for sales by the cheap hired help. Ask them to tave the shop foreman drive the car and go through the entire prep checklist. |
BMW has a reputation for making it right. Keep lots of notes and deal with the highest level of management you can. Make sure, if you have recurring issues, they don't print "functions as designed" on the service report. My 2004 4.4 has been pretty much flawless for almost 19K. They should get you fixed up...hang on, it will be a great car.

When I purchased my X back in 2000......it's a 2001........I also had a few issue the day after I brought her home. My dealer took very good care of me and figured everything out and now at 5 years and 4 months I couldn't imagine driving anything else. The X5 IS a great car and I encourage you to allow your dealer to work out the concerns you have and all will hopefully be well.
Happy at 85,000 miles! Katt :D P.S :xoutpost: |
Thank you all for your input hopfully every thing will be taken care of.
the dealer is telling us they fixed 2 of the 4 problems that we have and they say they can not hear any nosies. i think the roof is creaking when we hit bumpy roads. which we have plenty of them in northern new hampshire.. take care |
Keep us posted...

I agree with the other posts that say keep the pressure on the dealer. Where I live, there are plenty of bumpy roads, pot-holes, you name it - and I don't get any noticeable creaks or other noises - 4 months into ownership. I very much doubt that your roads in NH are anything like as poor as here. If your X is making such noises, then it is just plain wrong. I'm sure 99% of X5 owners would agree. I am completely satisfied with noise levels (or lack of) from the bodywork. If you are in any way unhappy, then either they fix it or replace the vehicle. Based on my experience, if they can't fix it, you have definitive proof that it is a lemon.

Best of luck!!!!
:xoutpost: and Good luck with your problems!!! I've owned my X for about 8 months now and really haven't had any noises, although I'm curious to know as to how much wind noise is too much, or how quiet the ride should be??? I guess I won't know unless I get a chance to be in another X5!!! I wish you get your problems resolved soon, so that you can get to enjoying the wonders of driving what I believe to be the car I should have been driving years ago, that's how pleasant and joyful this SAV really is!!!!

Thank you all for your imput. I picked up the car last week and went for a ride with the shop forman. he took me on the worst road that they had and we heard nothing. drove nack home 90 miles. they did fix the wind noise and ajusted the tailgate .but we still get a creaking nosie when we hit bumpy or uneven roads. the dealer told me that there is a break in period and the creaks should go away.... i will give it some time. the x5 is by far the best driving car i have ever driven. i love it and hope the creaks just go away....
|
I have never heard of a break in period for creaks and rattles, but if that's not some Down East inside joke, I hope it works out. I get a dull rattle if the sunroof shade is not completely shut or is retracted all the way back.
|
Where's the creaking noise coming from? Back or front? Inside or outside?
|
70k miles and no problems, ask the stealership for a different car. Get rid of the lemon ON TIME!
|
Don't tell me this!!! I pickup mine in 25 days and my schedule does NOT have any time for repairs within 6-7 weeks (and 4500 miles) after pickup. I refuse to take in all these negative waves. O-o-o-u-m-m-m-m.

Quick question, did you test drive it? Seems like these are items (if that obvious) you would have noticed right then. |
