How much does it cost to fix a rim?
 

I scraped up my right rear rim pretty badly today as I was leaving work to avoid an oncoming car that was coming in and was wondering how much it would cost to fix it? The scrape is about an inch and a half long by an inch wide. I tried using some rubbing compound on it, but it's still noticeable. Thanks in advance.

Cutom Wheel Refinishing in North Hollywood did mine for $175. Looks good, I can't even tell where the curb rash was. The # is 818.764.7679. They also have a wheel loaner available while they fix your wheel. It took them 3 days for my wheel.

Thanks guys...I'll definitely check them out. I can live with the curb rash right now, but not sure for how long. I get annoyed/peeved everytime I look at the rim, but I'm just happy I didn't hit the body (knock on wood).

I touched up my wheel scrapes with Wurth silver spray paint and clear coat. The Wurth brand matches perfectly and is easy to apply. the place I bought it from claims that it is the oem silver color used by just about all German wheel makers. Not as easy as calling a pro, but now I'm not so afraid of parking close to the curb.

What is the best way to remove some rash from chrome or at least make it less noticeable?????

Chrome looks good, but it is tough to fix. That's one of the reasons why I avoid buying chrome plated wheels (paint is just easier to fix IMO). You can try some rubbing compound or chrome polish with some fine grade steel wool or even sandpaper. But you will probably just end up removing even more chrome from the surrounding area when you try to level out the repair spot. You could always have the wheel re-plated in the worst case. Maybe someone else knows a better trick.
