Key configuration questions

Hi, all.

Got some questions and need recommendation in regards to car key memory configuration before delivery.

1. Seat Settings: Default is Not Active. If it is in "Not Active", driver seat does not adjust by itself with remotes, does it? If so, what's better between "when unlocking" and "when opening a door". I think unlock is better.

2. Mirror memory, automatic curb function: Default is Not Active. I think it would be better for me to make it active. Does mirror movement to preset position during reverse help a lot?

3. Automatic door locking after driving: Default is not active. "Not active" should be better for me I think. What would you think?

4. Relock 2 minutes after unlocking without door opening: Default is Not Active. I think "Active" should be better for security reason because it could be opened if a remote is accidently pressed in a pocket. what would you think?

One more question is if steering wheel can be moved up automatically to help driver in and out easily when a key is removed.

Thank you very much.

Brian

I would get the dealer to walk through exactly what the options do, as there seems to be some different understandings around. Then again, your dealer may not be an expert either.

IMO, seat memory, and curb function on mirror are both very useful.

Also, I would have the car lock automatically. Only downside is access in an accident, and I recall that the impact sensor unlocks all the doors in that case anyway.

Relock after 2 minutes: you have a good justification for it, downside is it may be possible to be locked out (not sure on this).

My steering wheel automatically moves out of the way.

1. "When opening" would be a better choice, imo, because if you have something in the back of the driver's seat, you want to be able to open the rear doors, move the stuff away, then open the driver's door to get in. With the "when unlocking" option, the driver's seat moves as soon as you hit unlock on the key fob.

2. Automatic curb function is usually Active by default. If you don't like it, just slide the switch to the right and the function is disabled. I find it helpful when backing out at a gas pump (and being able to see the curb).

3. I have the automatic door locking active.

4. I also have auto relock after 2 mins.

5. Steering wheel can be moved up/down or sideways when driver's door is opened. Both options are on the car memory sheet. I believe the default setting is Active for vertical and Non-Active for lateral movements.

Relocking after 2 minutes is a good feature to enable. It just provides the extra peace of mind that you don't walk away accidently pressing on the "unlock" button on the remote. I can't think of a scenario where you can get locked out by enabling this feature. If you unlock the door(s) and within 2 minutes does nothing, then the door(s) will relock. On the other hand, if you unlock the door(s) and open any door(s) within the 2 minutes time frame, this auto relocking feature is disabled.

Does anyone have a copy of this check list/configuration list they can post? This was not offered to me when I picked up my CPO.

Thanks.

If you refer to this Car/Key Memory Form, it's the "Entrance aid Longitudinal adj. Steering Wheel" option (in CENTRAL LOCKING section).
The default setting is Not Active from factory.
