Just Changed Plugs :-(
Hello All,
Just changed plugs and noticed oil on the plugs near the driver and passanger side. Please tell me this is ok . thanks |
Post pics of said plugs.
|
sorry, but trashed then. Oil was all over it. I had to clean the area b 4 replacing the the ones near the cabin.
thanks |
Oil is not Ok. It most likely is a sign of a leaking valve cover gasket. When I changed my plugs at 70K on my 4.4 the rear most plug on the drivers side had about 1/8 teaspoon of oil at the bottom. I had the valve cover gaskets changed and everything is dry now.

Do the valve cover gaskets since they're easy, but if you still have this situation after that, it'd be time to look at the rings and valve seals.
|
Thank you all,
I will replace the valve cover's and see if it helped thanks again. |

I had the same problem, but I changed the gaskets before I did the plugs. Also the screws that hold the valve covers. Those have a washer that needs to be changed also at the time of gasket repair. They dealership that I went to didn't change them and oil still got inside or it was older oil before the gasket change. The washer only costs 25cents each...
