Front Door Panel Removal - How To??

I am planning on replacing my dented B pillar trim (outside) and I need a write up of how to remove the door panel. I searched the Articels and the forums but cannot find a good description. I did find the pictures of the trim replacement in the Articels section:

What are the tricks to getting the door panel off??

This article seems to give a good description but is there anything else to note from others who have done it??

Two tricky parts

the thread you mention is good. the procedure is basically:

- find and undo all the screws
- disconnect the electricals (switches and courtesy light below)
- disconnect the "bowden cable" (from the interior door handle)
etc.

the only tricky parts that i found were (as per photos below)

A- the door panel pulls straight into the car horizontally at the top. i was trying to lift it up vertically which obviously didn't work

B- here the door panel must be lifted upwards to get it off of that black part on the door.

I need to fix my driver side door handle...what do i need to know about the airbags...do they come off with the panel?

they do not come off with the panel. you can see the airbag clearly in the pic i posted above. it's the black box with the bright yellow sticker.

you must remove it to get to the lock actuator. remember, the airbag is an explosive device and can seriously injure you, even kill you. no joke. take the appropriate precautions.

UncleBob says it all, wish I had had asked him before removing my door cards. It took me ages to work out how to release the door from the final clip labled as "B" in his post.

The 'how to' link omits this most handy and in my opinion the hardest part to work out as the rest is almost obvious.

Can the airbag be removed from power without triggering an alarm. I already removed it the other day and had it hanging off to the side as I examined the door actuator behind it. If the power wire can be removed from it without any alarms triggering then that would be the best route, right?

I found this in the Window Reguator DIY

7. Unbolt the airbag from the door frame and carefully move it aside. It should not be necessary to unplug the connector, but if you choose to do so then you should first disconnect the battery in order to avoid having an airbag light come on after you reinstall everything.

i replaced the door lock actuator without disconnecting the airbag although i did disconnect the battery just to be on the safe side. it's also a good idea to let the car sit for an hour if you can to dissipate any electricity in the circuits.

I have my panel 95% off and it is still being held on by something near the door lock. I removed "B" mentioned above.

How many scrws are there?? I found 3: (1) Lower part of panel & (2)behind trim.
