Door actuator driver side.?

Hi.

The driver side door will no longer lock when i use the remote key. All the other doors locks and unlocks using the remote key, but not the driver side.

Also when using the lock button next to the hazard button all doors except the driver door locks.

I can lock it using the key, but then only the driver door locks, not the others..

This occured after i had a flat battery, and needed to jump start the car. Not sure if it happened right after, but noticed it the next day. Also i got a bit of water on the door, while keeping it open and replacing the mid consoll..

Any ideas.? Is it the actuator that has failed.? Any thing i can try to test.?

Are there a DIY on the forum for this job.?

BTW, i tried my other key set, and it was all the same.

Thanks.

Come to think about it, i may have stretched a bundle of cables in black wrapping on the left hand side of the mid consoll. Right about where your left leg would be during driving. Not sure how bad it was strechted, nor if it would matter, but maybe someone knows if this cable could have anything to do with it.?

Sounds for sure your actuator has failed. I just replaced mine today. The directions within the X5 forum to remove / replace are excellent. I ordered my replacement actuator parf from Vertex autoparts (Miami, FL) - saved nearly $100 over dealer pricing. Put the new part in today - works great now. There is also a video on Utube on how to remove the drivers door panel.

I agree, it is most likely the actuator.. A new one costs 250us here in Norway..

Craaazy.. Got a used one fromebay for 19.90 us.. It has not been tested, but the seller had no reason to believe it was'nt working.

Before installing it, is it possibleto unplug the old one in order to test the replacement one.?

Also, is it possible to measure if there is any signal sent to the actuator when tryingto lock/unlock.? Just to make sure that the problem is a faulty actuator.

thanks..

Hmmm.

Starting to think it might be something different then the actuator..

I have not replaced it yet. But just noticed that the door indicator in the cluster is not showing the driver side door to be open when it is.

Also, im out driving, and only use the drivers door, i have to open and close the passanger door to activate the alarm.. Its not enough to lock the drivers door with the key, and use the remote for the remaining doors..

Also, when openeing the drivers door, the light does not come on.?

Any thoughts.?

Well at least you can get your Door open, I been trying to figure out how to open my passenger side door without damaging it. both inside and outside handle will not release the latch to open it. so I have not found anyone on the board either had or having the same problem. I guess I call the Steeler and see what they say.

I finally got the problem sorted.

It was NOT the actuator.. I was so set on it being the actuator, that i bought a replacement, and did'nt look for any alternative problem..

I found out today that it was caused by a bad connection on the window controller on the armrest..

Apperantly this has an effect on the door sensor and the locking when not working properly.

It was the big connector on the controller that had a bad connection..
