Brake pad wear sensors
What is involved in changing these wires?? Do I have to take the brake pads out to install the new wire?? Is this some that has to be reset with a computer after I replace them or is it plug and play??
Thanks, Todder |
Take a look at the brake DYI articles on the home page (under BMW X5 tips and tricks) - that should help answer all your questions.

Thanks I will do that.

Typically the new connectors just slide right into the pads. It sounds like you have a new set of pads already, but if not, we do have our RPS kits available that include new rotors / pads / sensors. It's highly suggested to replace the sensors when changing out the pads.

if the brake pads and rotors were replaced and you have no abs light on then dont bother putting new sensors in...the old ones are fine.

Here is a link to the sensors, the photo might give a better view of how they connect:

I found it very hard to remove the sensor without breaking the metal clip. I tried to re-use my old sensor but I broke it on the way out.
Could someone educate us on a great or secret technique to remove the sensor without damaging it? |
