4th pick up the broken (steel) piece and b4 you try to put it back on the switch make sure tight the steel end with plier so it will fit properly on the switch. it will fit like this pic below

5th put the switch back in the cover and slide it back in the mirror and try if the steel thing needs little adjusting like this pic (1 below) or you can try it without putting cover in see pic (2 below)

What was not functioning properly for your mirrors. I have the power folding mirrors and they are not working properly. They make the entire folding motion but they dont stay folded in. Was this similar to the problem you were having?

This sounds like it is not very difficult. How would you rate it as far as difficulty on a 1-10 scale? Was it pretty straight forwards after you took the cover off? By fixing the wire on only the drivers mirror this will make both mirrors stay folded in? Thanks for the write up.

There is more to it than just the switch metal piece being loosen or came off. The first time I took the passenger side cover off, fiddle with the switch (switch was good) and it worked for a while i.e. both mirrors fold in nicely and stay folded. After a couple of knocks on the mirror, it was back to the darn mirrors folding in and just as quickly folded out again!!! I have been taking off the mirror cover for a number of times (pretty good with it now) and fiddling with the just about whatever can be fiddle to no avail. :dunno:I gave up in the end and live with it. It is not that important but good to have it working.

I wonder whether one need to "sync" the the mirrors as they are both related to each other? Time to speculate.................anyone???

Thanks SARB.

Anyone know how to fix a dead mirror direction motor? It seems to have died in the process of trying to fix the folding issue. Still can't figure out the folding issue even with both covers taken off and fiddling with the microswitches.

Hey Sarb, I have some time this weekend and was going to take the mirrors apart and try to solve the folding mirror issue. I see many people have stressed that the most difficult part is taking the mirror housing off. Do you have any tips or pointers for when I take the covers off. It would be much appreciated... I cant wait to have my folding mirrors back!!!

I posted something a while back to change out the mirror lights. Sorry, it's sat. morning and I'm too lazy to dig it up. Search for mirror removal.

Thanks, I think I may have seen your post. There was one about switching out the lights in the mirrors for LED's. There is good info on the forum about removing the mirror covers. It seems like everyone makes the note to be very careful while pulling the cover off, so I was just seeing if anyone has some tips. I'm sure pulling the covers is something a little scary at first but after you've done it once its easy. Thanks for the response!
