SES after CAI & MAF install

I installed an AFE CAI on Wednesday and a Dinan MAF chamber on Thursday. I cleaned the MAF sensor with CRC MAF cleaner during the install. I had no problems after the install. Everything ran smoothly.

This morning after letting the X warm up, I noticed the SES light was on. After restarting the car it still was on.

I am wondering if any of my modifications could have caused this? Or did I miss a step during the install although it seemed a pretty straight forward swap etc.

I'm sure I'll have to take it and get the codes read, but some advise prior always seems to help.

Make sure all connectors are tight.

Meaning between the CAI and MAF where the screwed clamp rings are? The MAF sensor is pretty secure, I didn't disconnect it when I cleaned it, just spayed it down and let it air dry on a towel.

Also my CAI came with an oiled filter (I've already ordered the Pro Dry S). I figured I could clean the MAF sensor when the new filter came in but seems I've already got a problem.

make sure the maf sensor isnt in backwards and check for any leaks in the intake such as a loose hose clamp. check that and reset your battery for a few minutes. if that doesnt work get a diagnostic done to punch out some codes. good luck and report back with the solution

Okay, could you tell me how to reset the battery?

I think you should forget about resetting the battery, get an OBD2 reader, read the code, and go from there.

Got an appointment to at the shop to get the codes read this afternoon. I'll update after, thanks.

Just to make sure, the DINAN MAF chamber should be installed with the word DINAN facing away from the engine?

BTW how does the CAI sound any different, feel any difference in power or merely just sound? Stage 1 or Stage 2, I was thinking AFE CAI also, but its a lot of $$

Update:

I took the X to a local Indy shop that my "friend" runs. They hooked it up and said it was showing three faults:

· Bank 1 & 2 lean
· Aux Electrical Fan (I was aware of this)

They removed the MAF housing and added a thicker rubber seal to the side that connects to the hose going into the engine. They suspected that air was getting in past the MAF sensor and causing the lean codes. Seems to be a more snug fit and the SES light is off, so hopefully the problem is solved.

This entire process took 15 minutes and cost me $80(:wow:). I can say I’m never going back to that shop again.

Any advise on the Aux Elec fan?
