I don't hear many horror stories and I was in the trade for 10+ years.... usually it is a by product of poor maintenance history when a car has on-going problems. Although I will admit there is those "Friday Afternoon" built cars for sure... |
Thanks weasel

I WILL NOT BUY ANY BMW CAR ANY MORE, THEY ARE FULL OF JUNKS. PROBLEMS ALL THE TIME, SINCE I GOT MY X5. I HAVE FAMILY FRIENDS WHO OWN DIFFERENT CARS SUCH AS TOYOTA, HONDA, THEY PUT A LOT OF MILES ON, THEY STILL RUN FINE. HOW'S ABOUT BMW X5, NOTHING BESIDES PROBLEM. IT CAUSES ME THOUSANDS OF BUCKS MONTH TO MONTH. WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK CAR, BMW!!!! I WILL PUT MY X5 IN THE JUNK YARD SOON!!!

despite the problems i've experienced...which all came down to one problem (alternator) after 6 months i still LOVE driving my X
I'm not an acura fan only because they don't option out well, atleast last time I looked at one on the lot. what I mean by that is that they come fully loaded, no extra options, very few colour choices inside and out available. I'm previously a double Audi owner. Had an A4 1.8 turbo quattro LOVED IT & a TT - also wonderful to drive just a little to much of a chick car for me long term |
What I have learned is 1. BMW = BAD breakdust 2.BMW = Expensive parts 3. BMW = fun ride. Would I buy another X5... Heck Yeah I would be more knowlegable and would get a fully loaded 4.8.. instead of my hardly loaded 3.0i.. Ive learned retrofitting OEM parts is expensive and time consuming.. PDC 600 bucks, Navi 2,7000
dont get me started.. |

Even though I have chimed in, and about to spend mucho $$ on the X, we'd still buy another one given finding a good deal (we don't buy NEW cars). Even though it's the wife's car, I enjoy driving it from time to time. It's nice whipping an SUV around like a car. :D OP, you have to know what you're getting into, these aren't Hondas or Toyotas, know that going in. If you aren't comfortable, don't proceed. Good luck |
After my not so perfect ownership record of an 04 4.4 which is my first BMW, common sense would tell me to RUN AWAY from a 2nd purchase! BUT, I'm not sure these cars are about common sense....luxury isn't a necessity in life and perhaps even suvs given how most people use them, myself included. Luxury is just loads of fun and also expensive, the more expensive your gear the more expensive it is to maintain, generally speaking. In an ideal world luxury should also be reliable....perhaps it isn't, my experience points to this. All I can do is hope it becomes more reliable because when I test drove a more economical vehicle I just couldn't purchase it. It wasn't a great experience.
I'm cursed now and my wallet is too! |
