what ever number they come up with will be the on the low end of what they have for $. complain that its too low sighting that you cannot find a replacement vehicle in the shape yours was in for the $ they gave you and you'll be suprised how quickly they respond with a larger number. its a odd insurance thing that i've seen time and time again.
sorry bout the X. |
Yes, deff do what Tony said. Tell the the condition and work done to your vehicle has made it mint and that you cannot find anything for the money they are offering.
Be ready with this. When they call you, tell them this is bullshit. Say you have been looking for a replacement, and don't even see anything below $xxxxx.xx. Go from there. It is not like you are scamming them. They won't even consider the $$ you will have to lay out to get it to your liking and maintenance standards, again. |
if thats oxford green then fix it...that color with sport pkg and winter is getting kinda rare..and if you do get it fixed dont upgrade to an 04 front end, the best looking x5's were 00-03

Go to a body-shop man and ask him point-blank: IF he loved the car, would he try to fix it for himself and his family (it IS drivable?).
Since it sounds like compartment damage is minor, we know the truck can take -some- abuse, you may be fine. I realize this is nowhere near the same league, but my daughter's beloved EG civic had less damage, barely bruised visually, no air-bag (you didn't mention that) so we decided to fix it against valuation, since that was nothing.. the radiator mount stuff was impossible to repair correctly, our body-shop guy first -asked- us not to, then finally said he could not do it (good guy). Good luck, agree with above about oxford MT is indeed rare.. shame if she must go to BMW-hell.. |
Did your bags go off?
|
No, the airbags didn't go off. Kinda odd. You would think they would but maybe the force wasn't enough. Because the roads were icy, and I had greater momentum, his truck deflected while the X continued in a linear path. Never lost control, nor did it pitch or get sideways. A true testament to the stability control system and a little talent on my end. ;) JK. These are very safe and well built vehicles.
Update: Estimate came out to $10,800 with tax. $6500 in parts, $2,400 in body labor, another $900 in paint labor, and $1000 in misc supplies/paint off the top of my head. Doesn't look to good for the ol' girl. Still waiting to hear their initial offer from the adjuster 900 miles away in AZ. I will keep everyone posted. This forum is awesome. Thanks to all. |
Yea it does not look good. But you might get to keep it.
|
Whatever they offer, ask for a few hundred more explaining that you just had some new tires or maintenance done.
|
They will ask for receipts. So ask your indy to hook you up if you go that route.
