Can't open hood :(
 

Tried to open the hood this morning and it refused to open.

There is no feedback / signs of catching when I try to open the hood from the lever on the dead pedal.

Any ideas on how to remove the dead pedal or further diagnosis?

Um yea that sux. Get someone to pull the hood while you hold the lever.

Worst case, you can take out grille. You might break it. Then you look on realoem for the part that is replaceable that holds the latch. You take a sawzal, and cut that mother in half. You then replace said part.

Could be other part, that was just worst case.

^^Have someone pull lever while you work the hood latch. The cable is possibly salvageable but most likely due to be replaced.

My hood release broke last year, and in my case it was the cable which broke right at the release lever end in the driver foot well. If this is the same with yours then you can try dismantle the fittings around the lever, and then, with a bit of luck you can see and still grab the broken end of the cable in some vice grips, and then just pull it to release the hood. Once the hood is open you can buy and refit a new cable.

The cable ends in a lead bead which is used as the anchor within a recess slot in the lever (like an old fashion bicycle brake cable) and the most common point of failure is right at the bead.
