Sure it'll work. But a special caution is needed for cars with DSP (mine don'r have). For the OBC functions unfortunately you'll lose all, but: do you really need to know average consumption? It's very high on all X5s I assure you :D

Do the OBC functions still show up in the instrument cluster using the button on the end of the turn signal switch to cycle through? I like the fuel range function when I'm on long trips...

Nice write up and pics, though getting the trim off, radio out, center console sides removed, etc., etc. is always what worries me and no one ever seems to post how to do that...<hint, hint>

Yes, you still can toggle OBC functions using turn signal switch.

You don't necessarily need to removed center console sides. I got my harness laid all the way on the lower right side of vehicle, just under door bottom trim.

I am going to put back my stock radio, although the hualingan has great navigation and other features, I miss my Sirius radio and voice dial among other things, maybe when they can get everything working together I will get another unit.
