DIY - Before you order a new NAV DVD for X5 (Hualingan)
Hello Guys,
Just bought a Hualingan 4th generation from eBay and installed it on my 2002 E53 with Navigation screen, no DSP. I thought to share my experience with you guys. There are some important steps you need to do prior to ordering, so that you don't need to cut and splice wires, and you get a plug-and-play part. Please read below before you order it. Here's my original unit: http://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5475b27d.jpg http://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/...creenMKIII.jpg Here's what I did in order to get a plug-and-play unit: 1- I first checked the back of my OEM unit: http://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/...t/HPIM1894.jpg http://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/...psef0a1ffe.jpg http://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2bfd3efc.jpg It would need a 5m long cable from the trunk to dashboard. These cables can have either 17-pin or 40-pin plugs, so 2- I checked my trunk under the spare wheel: http://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/...t/HPIM1902.jpg http://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/...ps625760ed.jpg I found this plug. Counting pins it's 17: http://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/...psb558c5a2.jpg 3- So, I ordered an extra 5m long cable with the old 17-pin plug. 4- I ordered GPS maps for my country 5- I ordered the optional MPEG-4 DVB-T (digital TV) I got my box two weeks later. Here's the new unit as appears in the adv: http://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/...ps13502a98.jpg Specifications of the new unit: Built-in GPS navigation receiver system 7.0 inch 800*480 digital HD touchscreen Support steering wheel control Compatible with DVD, VCD, CD, MP3, MPEG4, CD-R, WMA and JPEG playbacks The language of OSD have 17 kinds: English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Hungarian, Czech, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Portuguese, Italian, Finland, Romania, Greek, Russian, Poland High speed camera alert function Or connect reversing radar function Built-in Radio: FM/AM/RDS Optional built-in MPEG-4 DVB-T function Radio Area: China, USA, Latin America, Europe, Russia, Japan E-book function--E-book: read, browse pics and games Bluetooth: BT-music, phonebook, call Support MP3, MP4, iPod TMC optional: Traffic Message Channel Subwoofer output, connect the original car subwoofer CDC: compatible for original 6 CDC or 10 CDC 2 SD card slots: one for map software, the other for multi-media document. support new type SDHC card, biggest 32GB Offer USB-HOST1.1 Jack, can read U disc, card reader Other functions: Movie, Time, Calendar and here's the new unit installed: http://i1273.photobucket.com/albums/...t/IMG_1462.jpg Feel free to contact me if you need my help, thank you Nezar - Saudi Arabia |

hey i just got the same GPS unit but mine on the gps page shows the gps signal has all the bars but above there is something else there and it have no bars and i know on my old unit i had before this one the gps had all the bars and the top one had all the bars as well do you know what it could be

Since your unit has power from the car and has no further portable capability these 'bars' will stay as you show above as 'empty'. Hope this makes sence in some way :D |
it dont make sense because i had the same unit before and it had all the lights on... unless it is because of the 2 wires i didnt hook up i didnt know where they go the brown brake wire and then another wire i cant remember if its orange or pink but yeah i dont know where those 2 hook up too
|
So did you get it working properly, how do you like it?
|
yeah i have it working its a pretty nice unit but when i use my ipod sometimes when i switch the song with my wheel control it skips songs

NEED HELP!
Hey Guys, I connected the new radio wire to the antenna wire that was originally plugged into the original RCM (radio control module), but the sound jams and there is interference. Any ideas where/ how to connect the new antenna?
|
Now my radio works very fine.
I connected the TUN-ANT (BLUE) wire to +12 V (red wire in the new 5 m harness), and then I cut both OEM radio antennas (looks like one is AM & one FM), and connect then to the new antenna wire. |
I installed my Hualigan GPS Antenna inside the dash on top of the tubular steel support. Not getting the best signal strength with a few brief loss of signal during cloudy weather. I;m thinking of re-positioning and or moving to the rear of the Vehicle,
Has anyone run into similar situation. They also sent me a NTSC Digital TV antenna with magnetic base. I get zero signal with this antenna installed inside dash. Looks like I will need to run this one to the rear of the vehicle as well. Cheers |
I bought a hualingan head unit from the factory in china, it says car audio on the box not the name, I gave them all the info for my car (year model, DSP, SAT etc), they said I got everything I needed to do the install but I notice I did not get any 5M cable, do you think I need it? I have a 2006 x5 3.0 w/o DSP but I have sirius and navigation.
