And yeah id love to say it wasn't a cash buy with minimum coverage, and I would've totaled it and not had to bug y'all, buuut I cant say that.
But im determined and a diehard junkyard dog, and I know theres gotta be a truck sittin around that matches that's messed up in another area besides the front I can snag up for a low price that someone is tired of lookin at, I have faith, and only want to sell as a last resort, as I paid 7500 for it and have no idea how much I would get or ask for it in this condition, but im positive it will not be near enough to buy another one outright, so its gonna have to be suck it up n grind it out on this one, even if its a 100% on the outside n a few parts odd on the inside type deal its gonna have to hobble out another 100,000 for me. So there are insurance guys and get ur hands dirty guys, lets hear it gearheads....

Im a get your hands dirty guy with insurance. I have a shop and do all my repairs. Not to be insulting but you bought a car and decided to drive it without proper insurance coverage and had what looks to be a terrible accident. You came looking for advice but it seems that you have already made your mind up. If the truck has frame damage it shouldnt be put back on the road in my opinion. You probably did some damage to the engine by overheating it. From the looks of it, youll probably be spending alot more than you think you will just to get it back up and running again. Body work is one thing, replacing panels is another, but paint is a whole different $tory. Part it out, cut your losses, and try and find another one. Heck, theres a facelift 4.4 for sale here in Atlanta for 5k obo. It needs transmission work and its not wrecked. Part yours out, keep the tranny, buy the one in Atlanta.

Thanks bagpipe,
Its pretty hard to insult me :) Different strokes... Different backgrounds...
I never thought about keeping the parts off of mine that I would need to fix another less broken one, its actually a great idea. I might save the cash I would spend on this one and store it until I find the right one that I can swap and then part out what I have left to help cover my losses. so thanks for that idea.
as far as insurance, its been 15 yrs on the road, maybe ill learn my lesson this time, maybe not :)
All in all very glad ive posted, thanks all for your help. If any of you knows of a good roller I can pick up and trade parts with pm me.

There's a guy on Chicago craigslist that is stripping a X5.

tyheiss 03-07-2013 05:06 PM

Ya I saw that! looked perfect but the # doesn't work :(
I emailed though, thanks for taking the time to look!!
I got a call off my craigslist ad from a company that acts as a middleman between buyers and sellers, say 12 ppl interested in my area at a price of 5990.00
Sounds good if its legit? fee is 150 for an ad until it sells...
Damnit im so hardheaded in thinking I can fix it cause I wanna keep it so bad, like even save up and buy 500 in parts every month id almost wait for it...
what a hard choice!!
hmmm insurance....

tyheiss 03-07-2013 05:09 PM

I mean its in a manufacturing shop with every tool I can imagine and a full stock of diff shaped steel and a semi sized spray booth
If I sell I cant keep parts for that price like bagpypes said

tyheiss 03-07-2013 05:12 PM

The booth is loaded up with a pitch black urethane enamel for semi trailers I could prolly mask n spray...

i have a bricked 2002 4.6iS that needs engine... the chain guide rails went, and killed the engine... after sitting for about a year, i am sure you will need a fresh battery, but other than that, it was working fine before the engine failure. 147K miles on the clock. i am not parting it out, it can go as a whole if the price is right... between the two, yours and this one can have a 4.6iS - and that is a monster... it is black on black... of course, before committing, i'd suggest to take a look for yourself, as it does have a few cosmetic blemishes...
