What is a realistic mpg for the 4.8? My boss had one and he dissed it last year. He said it would go through about 18-20 l/100km city driving. That is about 14-16 mpg.
Are these numbers correct?

If you keep your foot out of it, yes. But if you really put your foot down in the city, it is not unheard of to see less than that. I saw less than 15 on the highway when I sustained speeds like this for a few hours...

I see 12mpg strictly city driving in my DINAN 4.8iS, but I'm happy :p:
I got 19mpg hway on the drive back from Chicago when I got it.

I have a Dinan 4.8is and get about 16MPG mixed driving. I don't think I baby the throttle but I'm not flooring it at every light either.

The exhaust is kind of loud and I don't want every pimple faced ricer to think I'm trying to "rev up" on them and race. :-)

I just calculated mine and I got an average of 20.8 MPG, thats a mix of city, hwy and thomping on the throttle to show up 4 bangers. Just sayin.

16-18 mpg for my 4.4i. Efficient compared to my boat!

2006 BMW X5 4.8is

it was bought from RM auctions in 2010. put on 10K miles since then.

if anyone is in the market for a practically brand new X5 here is your chance to get one. i'm not affiliated with the owner

Gary92, any chance you could look the car over for me? I made an offer on it. I can PM you. Thanks for any help.

If y'all are monitoring gas mileage by what the car says, subtract one to one and a half to get your real mileage.

There is a 50k mile Dinan 4.8, blk/blk on Bimmerforums... $30k

Way better buy IMO.
