Forcing modules to relearn...

I've read somewhere before that if you disconnect the terminals on the battery and short them to each other overnight that it resets all the modules so that they can re-learn...

Should I or shouldn't I?

Depends which modules.

Some will reset the soft codes and re-learn adaptations, but other modules like the EHCII will retain the hard fault memories, which is why when you have an SLS error that stays on you have to get it reset at the dealer.

Otherwise everyone would just be resetting by disconnecting the battery.

What are the modules you want to reset that you need to do this for?

I think there is an issue with the camshaft sensor, My engine went into failsafe mode and a check around the engine bay found the connection loose - don't ask me how it came loose but its back in now and the engine is running well (except for a very minor low hum/vibration at idle) which is not normal but I was thinking that a soft reset could help...
