? regarding 2011/12 V8 - Customer care

So I have looking hard for either a 2011 or 12 35i or 50 engine. I have seen many posts with reference to the "BMW Offers Customer Care Package for N63" recall for the V8. Wondering has this fixed the issue owners were having.

The car I'm looking at mentions this service also done by BMW as a recall but just want to verify with others has the problem with the fuel pump been resolved, also was the timing chain affected with this recall also ?

Thanks any input members have would be helpful as I've heard many owners had turned in their vehicles due to this recall or prior due to the problem.

Also does the one yr warranty on the work carry over to the new buyer ?

any one any insight ?

Customer care package addresses the timing chain but not the pump. That is something else

Many threads on this issue either here or bimmerfest.

The 'customer care' recall may not have been a total 'fix' of all issues. Many (sme?) believe it was a band-aid to cover the most obvious and reduce BMWs exposure to widespread litigation- but that there are underlying issues that remain and many 50s will suffer in the future.

There is no way I would buy/own one of these long term.

Thx, I've dropped the idea of the 5.0 and most likely going 3.5

BTW are you the same ARD (e39 M5) on the M5board:D

I just got my E70 back from the dealership yesterday after it was there for 3 days. I took it in to have the oil topped off as is pretty typical for the V8 and they performed a humongous boat load of work on it that I didn't know was needed. I hadn't received any letters for a recall so I decided to get back into the forum which I haven't visited in a while, and find out what's really going on. They replaced the battery, vacuum pump, mass air flow sensor, injectors, hoses and probably a few other things I can't remember off the top of my head under this so-called Customer Care Package. It was a shock to see that so much work was needed. Never had a problem with the car and I certainly hope I don't from this point forward. It's been an amazing beast. I need to search the forum for the background on this but wanted to comment on how amazing of a vehicle this car has been. It's rock solid but like I said, that was before BMW decided to replace a bunch of parts that to me, were still doing what they were supposed to be doing. Fingers are crossed that I don't start having problems because they mucked with my car. :)
